Here's the deal, my uncle keeps trying to talk me into coming out and doing this job or towing the car to my place but I have no time/truck/trailer.
He has a 98 and a 99 Caddy Sedan DeVille. Both are northstar motors and both need headgaskets.
He is willing to pay someone $500 and give them the 98 if they will do the headgasket job on the 99.
Any takers? Let me know and I'll get you his info.
Uncle did this once, pulled the head only to find the block was cracked. Of course thanks to its size the engine had to come out to take off one head...
How often does someone actually fix one of those with just a headgasket? Arent those the ones that the head studs pull out of the block sometimes too? I wouldnt want to fix it either lol.

Yeah, I just assumed folks here would know the Northstar enough to understand that doing a headgasket job means helicoiling the block. It's not a fun job but if you have the time and skills then hey, free car. If I had a truck and trailer I'd bring it back here and do it eventually.
N* HG = timesert kit ($500) before buying new bolts and HGs. Then while you're in there on those year motors you may as well replace the lower case half seal since it'll be leaking oil, and then you'll have to timesert every bolt since the block is die-cast porous garbage. Look in my garage to know how I know this...
