Yes it was...and I had one! The America had a 1275.

Somebody adapted the Hydrolastic suspension in 1964-65 and put it on a Huffaker chassis and ran in the Indianapolis 500 as "MG Liquid Suspension Special" Maybe someone will hotlink some pics. http://www.used-mg-parts.co.uk/news/news476.html

I somehow talked my dad into buying a new Austin America. It later proved it's crashworthyness when I T-boned some clown who made a right turn without looking from the opposite lane.
