The prices are coming down! Blown headgasket. $3k.
Subie power swap??

Porsche Boxster, about 110,000 miles, blown head gasket, not driven since it started blowing white smoke, oil was immediately drained revealing mixture of coolant and oil. $3,000 firm. In immaculate shape aside from the head gasket,I would call it a mechanics special.
Is there a kit for that conversion? I would love to get a Boxster w/ a turbo
no phone number - dude spelled Boxster in the title as Boxter. No year.......posted on craigslist.
Scam.
I could be wrong.......see ebay listing.
$3,750.00 - 140,000 miles with a toasted engine.

So what does a replacement engine cost? That makes or breaks it.
LS swap coming right up, or .....
Its not a scam I talk to the guy and as of now hes going to fix it.Theres also a rolling chassis in Orlando for sale for 1300. Engines are around 3-5k but if you don't install the right year you got problems.Mostly electronic issues and oil seperators.I've owned a couple and I like them there just low on power and it cost $$$$ to add power.
The OP is likely not a blown head gasket. More likely a porous case...
That engine is toast. Not rebuildable.
rebuilds don't exist. 3.4 swaps can be fun.
This would make it a hell of a lot more fun though.
Yep,but before I did that I would go for the Cayman. Its a hardtop and I love that car. Both my Boxsters had the 2.7 they were fun in the mountains but suffered on long straights
The Subaru swap isn't as easy as it sounds. I'm pretty sure that the Subaru starter mounts to the transmission and that the Boxster starter mounts to the engine, which could complicate things. I know that there are guys working on it, but I'm not sure that anyone is at the kit stage yet.
LS1 with a transaxle,that would be fast.
i'd put a corvair engine in it
In reply to AngryCorvair:
You'd have to make that engine very angry indeed to work that chassis
$5500 Buy it Now, not mine...

It's grassroots to put a crappy motor in and destroy and otherwise good car?

It's grassroots to put in an under appreciated engine that makes more power, is more reliable, and costs way less than a stock replacement or repair.
Aaaand I am off to google the stock hp of a lumina APV.

I think probably more of a cost thing. How much would a Porsche 3.4 cost?

And one thrillion dollars in body repair.
How much does it cost in your time and custom parts to put do a freaky custom swap? It's one thing to do it to a $20xx challenge car, it's another to do it to a nice car, where you want it to be a nice driver.

Probably wouldn't be THAT bad...a broken bumper cover, some shifted rear trunkwall, and missing taillamps. MAYBE a rear trunklid...probably repairable though. It looks WAY worse than it is.
Yeah, not even close. You could easily find a used rear decklid, used bumper cover or fiberglass replacement and used tail lights from someone who made ugly upgrades to their own car. The rest is just basic auto body stuff.
