I debated if this is an off topic post or a for sale post probably a little of both. As you know I bought back the YFH (Yugo from Hell) last summer. I started some work and a lot of parts collecting to finish what I started and make the ultimate "stock" motored Yugo (nothing will top the one with a 500ci caddy)

Aside from general maintenace and repairs on the Colony Park I really haven't turned a wrench in months, partly due to some injuries/medical issues, partly due to other interests and obligations. But really when I get to the root of it, my heart just isn't in it, not just the Yugo, just the crazy builds in general. I still love the planning, the designing, but I just can't get the work done and I'm at a point where the stress of unfinished projects is weighing heavy on me.

So let's start with location before it gets too lost in all this text, Mullica Hill, NJ, about 20 minutes outside Philly.

So a quick rundown if you aren't familiar with the car. The build was started with a very clean, rust free 90 Yugo GV+. It has custom built fender flares and will easily support 225 rubber under the car. It is completely gutted and configured for racing. It is very light.

Pic in its heyday....

It is now sitting on widened steelies which support much larger tires than the chromodoras did.

So for $2013 you get The car, the steel wheels, a bunch of spare race rubber. A mold to make a fiberglass hood. Stock 1300cc fuel injected engine, with stock engine management. Last owner (SVReX) was working on a megasquirt conversion and I started removing everthing to wire it from scratch so you will get the ecu and all harnesses in tact but you will have to put it together. Fear not all factory manuals including the FI suppliments are included so you will have guidance. Currently has a Steve Hoelscher built 4 speed in the car, stock 5 speed will be included (but I'd stick with the 4 speed) Lightened flywheel and tubular header installed. An extra spring has been added to the rear transverse leaf to stiffen up the rear (and more leaves are included) Addco rear sway bar installed. At least 5 spare motors varying in size from 1100 to 1300 to 1500cc. Enough spare heads, clutches, brake parts, etc etc etc to fill the car and overflow into your truck bed.

Not included in the price and NOT for sale separately unless the car sells without them.

Brand new microsquirt ECU, you can map the microsquirts 35 pins directly to the Bosch motroinic 35 pin harness (stock yugo FI harness) for a plug and play installation.

Innovate wide band 02 sensor, controller, etc.

Full set (probably the last available) of Koni reds for a Yugo. Rears are slightly used, fronts are new. Rears are on the car, if you choose to take the car without these you will need to bring some stock shocks as I sold the ones on there.

1500 cc engine I started building up for the car, has 9.5:1 pistons, windage tray, big valve head (needs new valve seats) and a Faza Daytona 40/80 cam (real not a replica regrind). You will HAVE to megasquirt this or carb it to run this engine, the stock EFI wont handle it. This setup should be good for about 110hp, possibly more with tweaking.

If someone wants it all I will negotiate the best price I can to see it stay in the family, the "not included" list is easily over $2500 in parts so let's be realistic with each other. I will set individual prices for items if the car sells without them.

Won't go into much detail here but the Wartburg is available too, contact for pricing discussion as I can't imagine how far I'd have to strip it to justify a sub $2013 price.

Can negotiate base car as raced at GRM (and can get close to $2013 with it) as well as the items I've collected for phase 2 which include

16x10 and 16x11 CCW classic wheels with goodyear rain tires

Subaru WRX 2.0T, will need turbo and valve job, wiring and ECU included.

Full STI black and blue interior.

And probably a bunch of other stuff I cant remember.

It's entirely possible I'll change my mind at any minute :) But I've avoided making this post for awhile hoping things would improve medically and mentally to drive me back to these and it's not happening so time to let someone else enjoy them :)

Yeah, its nothing serious, just keeping me from garage time. First I tore my rotator cuff which put me down a few months. Now it seems the medicine Im taking to get my cholesterol in check (hereditary, diet did not help at all) has the side effect of severe joint and muscle pain. I was helping a friend with a project and not even doing anything at the time and my back when into muscle spasm and put me on my ass for a few days. Back is better now but the overall general level of pain and muscle weakness is keeping me from doing anything. The Doc is reluctant to take me off the meds because my cholesterol levels were dangerous so we're trying to reduce the frequency and see if that helps. Most of the medications have the same side effects so he's not convinced a switch will help any.

Like I said, nothing serious, but it's put me behind not only on car projects but home projects and life with the family. I forced myself to do some renovation work on my daughters room a few weeks ago and I'm still feeling it. So the build up of project backload and just everything else going on with life such as trying to develop a NJ escape plan has me thinking its time to minimize and focus. Keep in mind even with those 2 gone there's still 2 project cars here, my wife's VW Thing (which I am not allowed to sell or it would go first) and the Colony Park (which actually earns its keep around the house)

If they don't sell then I'll probably focus on a better mothballing strategy for the Wartburg to save it for another day and eventually get back to the Yugo. I need a full weekend of shop cleanout just to think about starting work again and I just don't have it in me to do any of that right now.

I'd rather see you mothball the wartburg than give it up.

Part of me would too, but think about the list I just rattled off of cars and parts and you'll see that even with a 4 car garage I'm seriously out of space. So having something occupying real estate that is doing nothing it problematic. Also consider that when I talk about a NJ escape plan it also means the expense and hassle of moving ALL of that....I will need a moving truck just for the garage, the house will need another.

If I can find some time/energy I may just put the Wartburg on the road for the summer and fall in love with it again, or wrap it around a tree, depending on what mood it's in ;)

I'd almost guarantee someone around here would store the Wart for free in exchange for permission to auto-x it once a month.

FTFY. If you ask the folks who have autocrossed it they would probably tell you once is all you ever want to do. It really needs some further suspension development.

I'd store it for free, help it get rehabbed, whatever. But I'm not exactly in Jersey.

I hear you on the escape plan. We're in the process of moving from SC to MD. I say "In the process" because, as of my tally yesterday, we currently have 16 vehicles/trailers/whatevers in MD, and 15 still in SC. And I sold off 8 or 9 of what we started with. And we're not dealing with any health issues, either (unless you count mental health...) So yeah, I feel your pain.

Moving's a bitch. Selling off project cars is a PITA, too. Everyone wants to buy everything for nothing.

Yeah, its going to be an interesting day when we can move. Still a few years out unless I have a rich ailing relative I don't know about. If I still have my fleet I'll probably beg Jeff Bloch to loan me his 53 ft enclosed trailer and truck for a week just to move the garage and projects.

Had similar issues a few years ago. It was terrible, the statin I was taking made it hard to get out of bed in the morning. Just stopped taking it and changed my diet and exercise. Cholesterol numbers still high but I feel fine. I would try another doctor/medicine. Also check out the streetstrider, it is an awesome exercise toy.

I gave my single car hauler to my brother and bought a 30' flat trailer that'll hold two at a time. "The Deuce", as I call it. Tows just fine behind a 3/4 ton, with a Class V ball hitch.

I trust the doc so no switching just yet, but I'm giving the every other day trial of the medicine just long enough to determine it's not working before I camp out in his office to try something else. Diet and exercise have been tried, extensively. By way of example my father is on choleserol meds but hey, he eats poorly, but my sister who is 42, looks like 24, not an ounce of fat on her, very active and eats extremely well, has numbers higher than mine. My eating habits aren't always perfect but there's a definite hereditary factor I can't get away from here.

I'm still getting good exercise, as much as I can force myself to do, had to stop weight lifting and just stick with cardio though. I dropped my weight load by half and still couldn't complete sets that I used to do with ease at 2x the weight. But I have a great old liferower machine that I still love to use, again at lower intensity but its low impact enough I can still use it.

Sorry to hear that you have to move on from a couple of dream cars... it happens to the best of us sometimes. If either fit my needs I would be over there with cash in about 20 minutes; they are both very cool!

I hate to come off as some sort of hippy, natural health freak, but cholesterol meds don't strike me as terribly attractive. Some other options:

http://www.naturalnews.com/002692_cholesterol_health_drug.html

Personally I'm a fan of red wine, too. If it gives you a headache or trouble with your asthma/allergies, find a good, sulfite-free red wine. That, olive oil, garlic, and cutting wayyy back on the meat and processed foods should really help.

A few years back, I cut my cholesterol about 20 points in 6 months simply by drinking about 2 glasses of red wine every day- no other dietary changes.
