We did that in physics a few years back, except ours only launched ping pong balls not Mini Coopers.

I dont think thats a 'Cooper' but it is a Mini and its a cool project.

Cooper is to Mini what SS is to Chevelle. Sorta.

Generally easy way to check if it's a Cooper is to check if it's got dual tanks - most (old) Coopers had those IIRC.

Yep, and a few other things like front discs and a 1275 motor.

Front disks yes, but they can be retrofitted fairly easily to a regular one. They also had several other engine size (998 and 1071, from memory) so the presence of a 1275 isn't really a sign it's a Cooper. Plus, the 1275 lived on for a very long time and is a popular and cheap retrofit, at least in the UK.

Not here. Not any more.

I think you will find that the 1275 was the only motor in the 1971 Cooper. 997s, 1071s etc were found in some earlier models.

Also, in the USA about 90% of Minis are advertised as 'Coopers' and arent.

The disc brake kits are easily obtained BUT in the USA are expensive for the correct 7.5 Cooper S type, like $1400ish, even used run $500-700

You need more then just a block to swap into the Mini, but if you have a complete Metro fwd swap they are still pricey.

What else do you need other then the block for the swap? I was under the impression that the any A-series will bolt to pretty much any other A-series transmission.

Cooper lump > Metro lump in value. But even a Metro 1300 lump has value. Pieces and parts are not the same as the motor/lump.

For exact swappage of individual doodads consult the Mini forums. ;-)
