Time to sell something.

Don't really have anything i'm willing to sell at the moment.

The MX6 is really all that could go, and that's my Challenge car. I'm not making a challenge Tercel 4wd wagon.

I always thought these were cool. I wish there were more pictures so I went googling for more. Maybe they will inspire someone.

This one appears the from the UK but the fine print at the bottom states 0-60 in 14.3 seconds.

Arctic Camo with a fart can, what's not to like?

Yep. Hate you guys.

Sent him an email. If it's not sold already i'm looking at it Friday or Saturday, and hopefully it'll follow me home.

Will call after work if i don't get email reply. I bounced it off of SWMBO expecting to get shot down, and she surprisingly came back saying that it would be a good idea.

"You can have your race car (celica), your fun car (mx6), and your backup/winter car! That works out pretty nicely!"

Knew i loved her for a reason.

Damn.

Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of how to do Arctic Camo? I will TOTALLY do that to this car if i get it. That looks awesome.

If you need any assistance when you're in the area give me a call. I wouldn't mind checking it out. If I hadn't just bought a truck I would consider buying it myself.

Are those EGT wheels on the one below the urban camo beast?

Can you PM me your number? I've switched phones since the last time i called you. I may ask you to look at it for me before i go out there, since it would kindof suck to drive out there only for it to be a POS.

If EGT wheels fit this thing, that would be AWESOME.

Does anyone know anything about these?

These are one of those cars that i don't know much about other than 4wd should ONLY be used if stuck, otherwise it puts a lot of wear and tear on the drivetrain.

Any common problem areas to look at? Are they capable of reaching highway speeds? (70-75mph around here) Are parts impossible to find? (rockauto seems to have a lot of stuff)

And of course, is aftermarket available? Either to lower or lift it? I'm not worried about making more power, i imagine it's probably that stupid carbed 1.5 lump that won't make power no matter what.

What about parts interchangeability? What other cars can i grab stuff off of?

Wikipedia said: he four-wheel drive model could be equipped with six-speed manual transmission, and could be shifted from two- to four-wheel drive without coming to a stop. The sixth gear it carried was an "Extra Low" (EL) first gear, a standard transmission gear with a very low (4.71:1) gear-ratio. The EL gear generated a 17.6:1 final drive ratio, giving the driver the torque needed to extract the vehicle from conditions which otherwise may have trapped it. Because of its low gear-ratio, it was suitable only for very low-speed use on loose or slippery road surfaces (such as snow, gravel, or sand.) Also included with the four-wheel drive model is a inclinometer above the radio and air conditioner that measures the tilt of the car. The new Tercel 4WD was built from existing pieces in the Toyota inventory. The engine, transaxle and front wheel drive system was from the existing Tercel. The coil-sprung rear axle was taken from the Corolla. The only part specifically designed for the new Tercel 4WD was the transfer case, built into the transmission. This gave the driver greater versatility than was possible on a purely front-wheel drive vehicle, as it provided three different power arrangements. Normally, the car would be operated with front-wheel drive. When the driver pulled the 4WD selector lever back into four-wheel drive, or pressed a button on the gear selector for the automatic transmission, the power was split 50/50 between the front and rear axles via a direct mechanical coupling. There is no conventional center differential, so the four-wheel drive system could be used only on loose or slippery surfaces; otherwise the drivetrain would experience severe wear, and handling would be compromised. The third power option (which was only available on the six-speed manual) was low range. This isn't the same as the low-range power option found in a truck or conventional SUV, as the Tercel lacked a high-range/low-range transfer case. When the lever was placed in four-wheel drive mode it became possible to down shift the vehicle from first to EL (extra low).

Yep i saw that.

I don't think this is a 6spd car, as cool as that would be.

I'm off work until Monday but I will look. There are templates that lay on an overhead projector and you roll the vehicle in and trace the shadow.

Google Mil-Spec & Camo or words to that effect, you may find the pattern. If you wing it with a few cans it'll just look redneck.

Arctic is white, grey and black, mostly white. Jungle is green, brown, black and desert is tan, brown.

Yeah... not really looking for one that needs a motor swap immediately. That would defeat the purpose. Not necessarily because it'd be heard, but because there's no way in hell i'd put another stock motor in if i was pulling one out. I don't have that kind of willpower, and i need a fast Tercel 4x4 Wagon like i need, well... you know.

There's a REAL ratty one about an hour from me for $750. I MAY lowball the hell out of him to see if he bites. For $400, i could just bondo up the rust and rattlebomb the car and not care.

We had one back in '89, when it was only 6 years old. While driving down the interstate at @60 in 2WD one wheel hit a bit of ice and the engine revved, and when it caught a tooth chipped inside the transmission. By the time we got stopped 3 more gears were trashed. Dad pulled it out and $1500 in parts later he gave up and took it to the dealership to get the tranny put back together. All told it was just shy of $3k to get it back together.

Fun car to drive besides that. Dad never trusted it again and it was gone within weeks of getting fixed.
