If it were closer, it would be at my house as the subject of a partout. Water leaking is likely a thermostat housing. They are around $100 for a revised, non-leaking version.

Those skulls are FIA approved.
Unfortunately, the best way to get these cars cheap is to buy them from people who have no idea what they have. If it were someone "in the know", the asking price would be $3850.

Buy it so I can sell you parts. (did I say that outloud?)
Take 6 crisp $100 bills and drag it home. The front bumper alone is worth around $400. The head is worth around $300. Worst case, I have a 93k mile engine sitting on a stand that I will sell you for $600. You could still have a well sorted car for way less than challenge money. The value of these cars has plummeted lately and so have second hand parts.
I bought a complete poly bushing kit, new MOOG ball joints, and a new press in poly motor mount for $60 shipped the other day.
Cheap, but is it worth it if it's not been taken care of? I believe it's getting harder to find the SVT specific suspension bits to replace things that are worn out.
Still... that's cheap.

Not really no. The SVT suspension is still widely available for around $300 shipped. Aftermarket still seems okay. The worst part is finding new OEM Ford parts, but with people parting them out (me), needed parts are still easily sourced.
I always thought you needed to strip everything out and add a roll cage for a racing interior. All this time all I needed were skull seat covers!

I've just heard from hearsay that Ford Racing doesn't has some of the stuff anymore.

You're very right in a sense. So many Ford Racing goodies are long gone.

The thermostat housing on my Focus always weeped coolant, even from new. The more it was tried to be fixed, the more and more it leaked. The other leaking part that happened on all 3 Foci my family owned was the coolant drain plug. But, all in all, easy fixes if that is the case on this car. So so tempting.
