One of my best friends had a yellow one, not sure if it was original paint, however.

You met Jonathan? He's gainfully employed by a company that specializes in stuffing Honda K-series drivetrains into those.
Apparently, when you have a K20 in a 1600lb mid-engined car, it becomes quite the land missile.
No, he does not own one.
He does have some Foxes, XR4Tis, and some other Euro stuff. Apparently a 300hp Fox is also quite the land missile. Can't wait to see what 600hp is like.
Body looks solid, but "needing engine repair" means not likely to sell soon. Cool cars, but not fun working on some aspects of these (once took me an entire weekend to replace the master cylinder).

I only say that because there is the build thread on here with a red one (had a yellow engine compartment I saw one on CL cheap (really cheap) that was all torn apart that was red (oddly enough also with a yellow engine compartment), and this one is also red. The picture in this thread of the purplish one is the first non-red one I've seen.
Metallic baby blue with off-white/black/tan Bertone. One of the first cars I learned to drive on from my dad's stable. Would not mind another if I could get it stripped down to bare metal and galvinized and dipped in a big vat of POR-15.
What sort of Engine work could it need? The 1500cc used in those were not interference engines and were EFI using a really simple Bosch system.
The cooling systems can be difficult to bleed all of the air out, so perhaps the headgasket puked. Luckily that isn't hard to solve either.
The 5-speed transmissions are known to be a little weak and reverse doesn't have a syncro so they tend to self destruct. Basically they all eventually start jumping out of gear when in reverse.
The hydraulics tend to fail due to sitting.
The 86 cars were the most comfy and best built versions, but were heavier than the early models.
http://www.xwebforums.com <--lots of info there.
I emailed to ask what kind of engine work it needed and they said it was sold. Actually the exact words were "we sold out".

I have had maybe a dozen or so "X's" (none red by the way) and the master cylinder is by far the hardest job on the entire car. I can't think of anything that comes close. 4 letter words are your best friend as you position yourself head first into the floorboard, wedged under the steering wheel. And then only to find you can't get the brake lines started. It's hard to describe what a joy this is.

Yeah, on the one I had I was going to use Tilton units mounted to the frunk firewall just to avoid that nonsense. Ended up scrapping the car instead, it was just too far gone to save. I still have the 1500 sitting on the floor along with a spare top, headlight pods, etc. If anyone is looking for parts, let me know before I buy another one myself.
