It has 2.72 : 1 prairie gears AND the ever popular drum brakes. Using it for another application? Backing plate to backing plate is 53 inches.

What kind of rear?
9 inch, 8 inch, 7.5, or 8.8?
All came in Mustangs covering a 50 year span.
I believe 8 inch, how do I confirm this?

Removeable center section? That narrows it down. Any tags on it with numbers? Otherwise year and bolt pattern. Smoking deal if 8 or 9". Just sold an 8" with 3.79 gears for a lot more than that.

Still I must be the only one who wants gears like that for a highway cruiser.
Or do a disk brake swap and use for a bike engines car. <3.0 pinion is great for bike engines in locosts. If it's one of the smaller sizes weight won't be bad either.
what year mustang is it from?

Should be an 8.8 for an 86
The time wasted with C-List tire kickers, phone tag and naer-do-wells wandering around my garage is not worth the measly $65.
Free Mustang rear end to a Challenger.
It's not the desirable gearing, but it make your car burn out in a straight line.
