Hmm… I wonder what kind of nightmare it would be to own a 16-year old high-end luxury car with 200k on it? Looks like fun though!

Heh heh heh .... hooo boy.
You know the kicker? It has blingy aftermarket wheels. There is a very, very strong correlation between that and deferred maintenance/repairs.

There is indeed, but if what is claimed was done, it should be relatively trouble free.

So true... Oh so very true. Also applies to newer luxury vehicles.

magazine worthy quote right here
BTW, I test drove both a 540i Sport 6-speed and an M5 when shopping. The 540i is not a poor man's M5, the big boy is a big step beyond. The 540i felt like an old man's car, the M5 felt like the engineers had been given full reign.
I kind of figured a poor man's M5 was a box Caprice with an LS2 swap and a bunch of suspension and brake parts.
This is an E34 though.... Buddy of mine has one with pretty high mileage and it's been a great car. It's got a chip, intake, and exhaust i believe, and the thing sounds berkeleying INCREDIBLE.
Like... weak-in-the-knees incredible.
The timing chain and guides are on borrowed time at 200K. Not a terrible job on the early v8 but it does require some special tools.
