Hi guys,

Been lurking around for a couple months at my brother's (sobe_death) reccomendation. Sorry to let my first post be a for-sale, but I figured there might be some interest here.

Prepping for a move and need to thin out my vehicle herd, unfortunately that means my 1985 Mighty Max is up for sale. Lots of miles on the truck body (about 270k). Engine swapped in from 1986 Ranger (which had a 4d55 Mitsu Turbo Diesel) - undoubtedly less miles than the truck body but true mileage unknown.Hooked up to stock Mitsubishi 5 speed and transfer case . Hood was modified to clear higher accessory mounts of Ranger version. Truck is a blast to drive and sounds an awful lot like a tractor (straight pipe, no muffler besides the turbo)

Lots of work done to it: Injector pump and injectors rebuilt by Diesel Injection in Forest Park GA, rebuilt starter, new clutch, turned new aluminum accessory pulley to replace damaged original. Head gasket done about 1,000 miles ago. Dual batteries located in toolbox behind cab. Aftermarket torsion bars and stereo. Glow plugs are hooked up to a push button on the dash, replaced last week with new 12v NGK's identical to the stock 6v ones it kept burning through. Comes with a couple of spare starters, FSM with Diesel Supplement, and any other spares I have for it.

Known issues: Small oil leak around dipstick tube, last I checked was not even leaving a spot though. I will look again.

Tachometer Broken. Think I have a line on a replacement which will be included if it comes through.

Small rust spots underneath doors. Has a nice blue rattle can paint job over the original silver paint ( done by previous owner). It's an old truck, so various dents/dings/imperfections, but runs like a champ.

Corners were cut out of toolbox (it's from the Ranger) to clear wheel wells; pieces still on hand, just need to be welded back in.

Contributions to a build thread can be seen here ( warning, it's long) http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=974425&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1

More Pictures available on my PhotoBucket, with the most recent ones being at the bottom of the list.

Listing it here for $2000 and I'm reasonably firm on that, think it's more than a fair value. Located in Atlanta, GA (of course, right?) Email or reply here with questions, etc.

Seriously. Why are all the cools cars in the Atlanta area. I get that cars in the south don't rust, but do waves and wind slowly blow them all to Atlanta?

To be fair, it was the epitome of un-cool when I got it in 2005. It had super swampers on it, but burned so much oil I occasionally wondered if it was a two stroke.

That being said, there is a lovely airport here in Atlanta I can happily meet interested out of towners at!

Bump for any renewed interest! I really do need it gone - taking a job in Dallas next month.

I'll take $1800 OBO from a forum member. It's going on craigslist for more expensive later this evening.

You'll need to log in to post.
