I'm working on a little project and need a pair of black plastic license plate light assemblies. It looks like 80-83 Honda Civic lights would be perfect. It appears that they are all the same for sedans, wagons and hatchbacks. There are no self service junkyards around here. Anybody have any or know where I can find them?

The internet is wonderful, but weird. If you search on car-part dot com, it turns out there's a bunch of them in Idaho. I cannot imagine why Idaho should be the national repository of old Honda licence plate lights, but apparently it is. (Maybe it's actually the national repository of very meticulous JY cataloguers?)

If you are just looking for lights - I have these on my TR250 and they work great. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-license-plate-lights/miniature-led-license-plate-bolt/1685/

You may need to copy and paste. There are several outlets for these type of bolt lights on eBay, Amazon, and Hot Rod type of sites.

That's odd. I searched car-part and came up with nothing. Can you post a link for me?

Thanks, but I actually need the plastic housings for this.

I can actually buy an entire parts car semi-locally for $200, but that seems a little extreme.

Disregard. I found the ones in Idaho. I was searching 1983 only. Now I just have to wait for their clocks to catch up to mine.

Woody,

I might have something that could work for you. Lemme check down cellar and I'll post a pic in an hour or so . . .

To Woody: It was pure n00b luck. You said "1980-1983," so IIRC I picked 1981 at random.

Would these work for you?

Smaller than the earlier versions and covered in dust, but . . .

That wasn't exactly what I was thinking but would you mind taking some measurements for me?

What is the overall length when they're mounted to the backing plate?

What's the length and width of just one light?

What is that off of?

I made the backing plate here, just simple sheet metal. Measures 16.5 X 7 inches.

The single light pod dimensions are 3" wide, 2" long, 2.125" high.

Pretty sure that the came from a Honda or Toyota. They have lettering cast into them that says, "Japan KOITO."
