Well, I snapped off the thermostat housing bolts when I went to remove my thermostat. Welding a nut to the remainder didn't help remove them, hosing them with penetrating oil for 3 days 3-5 times a day and trying the nut theory again didn't work. a pair of vicegrips on the remainder didn't work. Short of drilling these out, my options are to get a new one, or attempt to drill the steel bolt in the aluminum housing. So anyone have a lower thermostat housing for a 1.6 miata laying around? Need it ASAP, sharing one vehicle between my wife and I is getting really really old.
