Fiat 1608 twin-cam engine & 5-speed manual transmission from a '71 124 Coupe, mine & affiliated.

These came to me as extras from the original owner when I purchased his 75 124 spider. The spider is now gone and I was hoarding these for a future project. I'm headed across the country in a couple of months and as much as I like "project" parts in my garage, it doesn't make sense to bring them with me.

The story is the 124 was a daily driver through the 70s, the PO re-built the motor sometime in the late 70s, then around 1980 the car was torn down to parts (I assume because of rust). Being a Fiat enthusiast (hoarder/crazy?) he kept most of the parts from the car in storage before they got passed on to me. I was told the engine/trans were in good running condition at the time the car was scrapped, although the engine did burn oil through the valves (apparently they weren't knurled during the re-build). That being said, these have sat for 30 years so it's probably best to treat the engine as a builder.

I also have a pile of other parts that go with it, including a carb, some gaskets, ignition parts, header parts, plus a pile of miscellaneous other parts.

I'm not really sure what the market is on something like this, so I'm open to offers (or heckling if you think I'm way off).

Link doesn't work.

My first car was a '71 124 Sport Coupe. LOVED the way the 1608 screamed.

Yeah messed that one up.

I ended up selling them to the gentleman who bought the spider from me as spares.

Unfortunately my 1608 never ran well enough to get a feel for it, but it certainly made good noises. Another day when I'm settled and ready for a different project these will be on my radar.
