I'm in the regret for getting rid of mine category as well. The balance on that car was incredible.
"Rust behind the front wheels" scares me. Could be minor or a major cluster F### to fix.
In 89 I almost bought a 86 gtv6 at a local VW dealer. They could never get it to run longer than 15 minutes. I love these but that has scared me off these. Ended up with a 87 comanche.
