Just saw the CL ad. That's a nice truck.
I owned an '89 version of this truck but it was a STX model. Loved it. I worked the 2.9L hard but never had an issue. If you keep up the cooling system you won't have a problem.
IF it's using coolant it may be. If it's a leak that's OK but if there's no leak then perhaps a cracked head?
Manual RWD Ranger? V8 swap!!
