Toasted engine? If the new tensioners are installed why not slap on the valve covers and call it a day? I suspect it went one day too long before the new tensioners went in.
I have been hunting xk8 and xjs in the region, for ls swap. Ideally want an xk8 convertible though. Not in any rush... Need to get under 10 cars again.
Actually it is beyond the need for obd2 testing so all it would need is a safety check and it would be road legal.

I'm not so much worried about emissions since it would be eligible for historic plates by the time I finished. I was just hoping it was more or less an inexpensive bolt in.
Jags that Run makes a pretty complete swap for the LS1. Even have a kit to swap in a 6speed manual if that tickles your fancy.
We thought about this but I couldn't find a decent XK8. Every one I looked at drove terribly, the steering was all over the place and the suspension was worn out. Turned me off on the project.
