I don't need to T5 swap my Merkur. I don't need to T5 swap my Merkur. I don't need to T5 swap my Merkur.
In reply to EvanB :
Okay of all of us, you should probably T5 swap your merkur
Clearly the rest of us would help you thin the herd if parts you'd have leftover like the scavengers we are
i need more 2.3 parts i need more 2.3 parts i need more 2.3 parts
and i also need to t5 swap my merkur
but: Cleveland.
Trans alone with no bellhousing sold for $599 on ebay last week, sounds like this is a better deal than I thought. Maybe I should buy it, how hard is it to make more power? Like grainger valve and more fuel pressure easy or what? Think i’d want 275-300hp.
That’s the beauty of this, there is no rustbucket car to deal with. For challenge purposes recoup blah sell disc brake 8.8 make $ back for budget, but I don’t have time for that. I called on a 2.3 turbo with no trans for $800 last week and it was sold already.
In reply to Patrick :
I don't get it then. In no way is that all worth $600. $400 and I’m game. JMO.
Couple of yrs ago, I picked up two 2.3 turbo short blocks for $75.... One needs rebuilt and the other is usable as is and probably my $2018 base engine after I clean out my dad of all the turbo parts he’s boarded for yrs. Now to just get the trans to shift and live....

2.3 T5 trans?? I have 2 spares in my challenge build already, that's a heck of a lot of recoupe...
As to the power, timing, boost and fuel can get you a lot on a stock motor and ECU (if it's THE good factory ECU. (If not I have 2 I can sell you)). Personally, I am about to go standalone on mine for the Spitfire. I'm starting to think after I'm done with the spitfire a 2.3t RX8 could be fun...
