Despite my best efforts, I can't make the time to finish my 944/LS1 swap.

Just about everything is there to finish it, and plenty of parts to sell off and recoup money for the odds and ends that aren't there.

Here's the Cliff's Notes:

LS1 from 1999 corvette (IIRC)

wiring harness

two GM ECU's, one stock, one tuned for long-tube headers

one XXXXX ECU

Rotors and calipers from Lexus LS430

944 Turbo front suspension, stock rear

944 Turbo transmission (not installed, NA is in place)

Wider Porsche wheels with new tires (see pics)

Brand new ceramic-coated headers from Texas Performance Concepts, not Renegade Hybrid trash

I have LOTS of parts for it that I won't list here, but will detail for a potential buyer.

Clean title in hand.

The whole package would be more than challenge priced, but not much. We can work out a mix and match deal to get you ready for the challenge. It is entirely possible to field an LS-powered 944 in the 2018 challenge.

Naturally, more pics and info is available on request.

How much for the LS1, harness & ECUs? Do you have the accessories/brackets too?

Did you buy that from a guy in Fairfax VA?  Looks *soooo* familiar.  Much want, no means.  Forwarding to a friend.

I don't want to part it out if I don't have to. That's almost as much work as finishing it haha. If I part it out, I'll post here first.

Falls Church actually. I'm sure it's the same one. I bought it from someone here, but I can't remember the screen name.

I am disappointed but relieved that you are far, far from me. That looks like an absolutely smoking deal. GLWS, and I hope that it nets you peace of mind in clearing it off your to-do list.

Yes that's the guy!  I picked up a radiator from him for Aussiesmg several years ago and he had the 944 in his garage at that time.

Small world, he's a friend of mine, I put him here when he was selling.  Now, wanna follow the weirdness of how our world all interrelates here.

The radiator was one I had left over from the Studebaker which eventually became Andy's son's car.  I traded it to Jesse for the take of porsche brakes and suspension bits which were used on the wartburg.

And I happen to know he'd love to have that car back but isnt in a position to do so.

Curiosity, because I cant entirely tell from the ad, is the LS engine mounted in the car or is it just available with the car?

Basically what's needed to be done on this....not that I need the project but damn...I'd like it  (more importantly Im trying to talk Jesse into getting his old car back)

Yup, Jesse is the guy. The LS is in, the NA transaxle is in, turbo transaxle is going with it unless someone REALLY wants to be cheap. It's a roller right now. All the big money, and most of the small money has been spent. You could double my asking price and still be far away from what's here.

So the engine is in with adapter/clutch/flywheel all figured out?

Its a bad idea but I'm interested.  The MG is "done enough"

Yeah where did you stall out in the process and where is the car located?

Awesome project, and you're very local (pretty sure I bumped into you at Waterford Hills a year or two ago)  Looks like you've got some interest so I'll put myself in line.

I've not got the time and $$ to finish it on my own but I'm trying to convince my brother that we need a challenge project in our lives, something we've wanted to do for some time.

I'm in Fenton, MI. About an hour north of Detroit. Yeah BlueInGreen44, we did bump into each other at the Historic races at Waterford (pretty sure it was the Historics).

Here's where it's stalled.

The engine is in, so the bellhousing, torque-tube, motor mount is all figured out. The (a) previous owner did what I thought was a little too much clearancing on the engine crossmember, so I have another cross member that can be clearanced for fitment.

The brakes at the 4 corners is figured out, the master cylinder is up for interpretation. Some folks go manual (have the Tilton dual MC), or power. I have the BMW hydroboost stuff if you go that way, and I think some of the stuff needed if you decide to go Mustang hydroboost

There other odds and ends done like the pop up headlights. The rod connecting the two was removed and a second motor is in place. Some folks want to use dual motors, removing the bar between them to free up room for the pipe feeding the throttle body.

It needs to be wired up (I have the ECU(S) and wiring, and wiring pinouts) and fuel plumbed and you should be able to fire it up. Then get the brakes and power (?) steering sorted. For power steering I was going to go with the GM electric assisted setup.

I really wanted to finish it, but I can't seem to get more than 1-2 hours at a time in any given month. I don't want to be that guy sitting on a car for decades saying "nah, it ain't fer sale. Imma fix it up one day"

I know it's worth more than I'm asking in parts, but I don't want to part it out, and I'm not going to hold out for top dollar. That's less than I have into it, I just want it to see the challenge, that was my intention. This can be done within challenge budget.

The want is HUGE.  You're giving someone an Awesome deal here.

Wish it could be me, but alas, my finances won't allow it at the moment.... If it's still around in the spring (yeah right I'm surprised it's not already spoken for) I'd love to snag it.

I'm posting here first. If nobody here bites, I'll take it to the 944/LSx swap forum and raise the price. I really want to see this at the challenge!

I went with dual headlight motors on mine, the crossover bar is in the way of the intake tube.  Power brakes are the way to go, either use the BMW hydroboost system with the 944 master, or the mustang system and get the adapter from Texas Performance to use the 944 master.

You can either use an adapter and a Corvette C5 bellhousing or a one piece bit from Quicktime to mate to the stock torque tube.

Here's a few snots I took today. The rotors have surface rust from sitting, but a die-grinder and a cookie will clean them up good-like.  New springs all around.

There is so much I could use here.  Either to finish this car or transplant parts on to mine and sell the rest.  And I live like, 10 minutes away (Hartland).  indecision

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I'd be murdered in my sleep if I brought home another non-running 944, and we're looking at a sudden unexpected basement renovation, so I'm a bit cash-poor anyhow.  But man.... someone is going to get a steal.  The hard stuff is done!

I see a trend here.  The people with the cash, don't have the time and have too many stalled projects already.  The people with the time, don't have the cash.  At various times in my life, I've been on both sides of that coin.  Want is strong, but I fall squarly in the category of too many unfinished projects.  The fact that my wife backed into the one car I recently finished and had out front for sale, doesn't help things either.  As a group, we should start pairing up on some of these projects.  Stuff gets done that way.  I'd buy it and bring it to Mass if I could just find someone that wants to do the wrenching, and then we could both enjoy it/sell it off and split the profits.
