Pretty cool. 
That's a pretty good deal.
If you look closely, there seem to be a few places the bed is only held together by a layer of paint with the telltale split.

Not sure what you're referring to. OBS Ford beds hold up better than the '99 up ones.
That thing does look half decent. If the strut tower is rusted out though, what else is rusted underneath?
The other common place is the floor and cab mounts. Cab mounts look good at the bed wouldn't align, otherwise.
