Hp48 work good on an ej22? Its a na motor, that I just plan on running a fmu on , when I get around to it eventually. Because 130hp won't be enough in the Ghia...

Bumping this to the top again in case Whiskey Business is still around, and to maybe get some others's input. I had bought the two used hp65's way back when, and am finally getting to using one on a challenge build. 

My best calculations for realistic max target HP/RPM (2.5L) put me in the 2.15 pressure range, and ~.30 Kg/S. That puts me out of both the 60% efficiency island, and past the 160k rpm's line.  Looking at the trends of the curves on the map, I think we could assume that would put the compressor speed at ~170k rpms at that point. With a 60.5mm comp wheel diameter, that would be ~540 m/s at the tips.  Is that safe to plan for as a max?

Definitely still around! Without having to pull a bunch of spark timing to prevent knock, that 0.3 kg/s (40 lb/min) range should land you in the 400hp range. That is definitely further than I think these turbos will like to be pushed. No guarantees on how long they would last at that power level, or if they will even flow enough on the turbine side to support that.

As a side note, I have some of these turbos left as well as some larger stuff that I bought for other projects. 

bluej, if you are still shooting for that much power I might be able to help you out.

Yeah, that's one of the things I liked, that these are sized for faster response. I'm trying to figure out what a max practical limit is, knowing I'll end up at the end of the turbo and cam happy place . Redline is going to be at, or not much past 6k. Do you have ANY other info about these you'd be able to send me?  Thanks!

Also have the following generic China turbos, one of each. I'd like to keep these challenge friendly priced, so let me know what works if anyone is interested:

"GT"3582 Non-gated

"GT"45 Non-gated

"GT"4092 Big daddy non-gated diesel turbo

 

I think I'd like to keep the 3582 for my Sonoma project, but all are able to go.

I guess I could redesign the adapter for a T3 flange.  I haven't poured it yet so I might as well of that works better.

Is the v-band adapter the only difference between the 2876 and 3076? The specs look the same.
