Bit of a project but there are lots of great period details to geek on.

I like those cars, but haven't seen any in the flesh for years, maybe decades. Is that an original color? I like it.
I love the ad....a car that is not running and has no installed engine, but it will "...SMOKE THE AVERAGE VETTE, CAMARO OR MUSTANG EASY."
I guess so, if you get someone really strong and fast to push it....
In reply to T.J.:
Looks like it might be Bali Green, which was an early MK1 color. I don't think it ever came on Sciroccos, but it is one of my favorites on Rabbits.
I'm glad this is nowhere near me!

I saw a lot of this when shopping for 80s German iron. People think that a nameplate makes it fast. I guess they never got into a drag race with a late-model Camry.

More like 2000 lbs.....but still very light, nimble and fun. When there were introduced they had a mightly 1.6 liter that made about 78hp, and they were still one of the most fun machines on the market.
I prefer the 78-81 slight redesign, with the wrap-around turn signal lights. If this was one of those....I'd be all over it!
Interesting... Turbo and 16v exhaust manifold. No engine. I guess a fly and drive is out of the question.
I do have a warranty-return 2.0 ABA sitting on a stand in my garage. Would fit right in! I also have a nicely worked 1.8 liter head that would bolt right on for about 150hp. That's really all that car needs to be mightily entertaining.
but it wouldn't "smoke Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros" through the 1/4 mile
