Lake Effect Rac1ng is Looking for some experienced drivers, Our car a is a fully race prepped BMW E30. It is a North Carolina car so it's very clean and competitive (No penalty laps with Chumpcar). Last year it ran in Canadian Chumpcar and was very competitive. My expectations for drivers are consistent lap times that are comparative to my own or faster. Endurance racing is very different from sprint racing so my philosophy is run your own race and consistency wins. My expectations are that you will help out with pit stops and be in the pits during the races to make sure our strategy is put in place for the races during the weekend. We currently have seats available for two events:
WRL September 22-24 at Mid-Ohio
Chumpcar PIRC October 7 & 8th
That picture is from Nelson Ledges (I think) and the team name implies NE Ohio... is that where y'all are located?
Car is located in Cleveland that is on the new and improved paved Nelson Ledges.
What are your lap times like at Mid-Ohio? I'm consistent but consistently slower than the people I've been racing with there, in a very well prepped NC Miata I think I was around 1:57? fast lap. (Going by memory, so I may have lowered that in my head over the last 9 months.)
What are we talking about cost-wise? If you'd rather not post it, email me at my user name at gmail.com
I'm not 100% sure I could make it but racing at Mid-Ohio is as close as it gets to local so I'd love to try!

I can put an e28 around Mid-O all day just slightly below 2 minutes. I'm sure I could accomplish the same in an e30. I don't have a license or a fire suit, but I'd a be willing to help change tires.
I managed to put a fairly basic e46m3 (not mine) on street tires around Mid-O in 1:39 this spring, sorry that's not a great data point of driver skill relative to the e30.
It'd have to be a bit closer to the date for me to make a decision, but as of now my schedule for Mid-O looks open.
If you want to email me cost and other pertinent details bradyonkers at gmail dot com is me
Hey trigon,
I don't know why I'll vouch for this knucklehead, but I will. David (dculberson) has run many races with the LeMons team that I'm on, so I know him well and he's a friend of mine. He's a good driver and a really great guy. Definitely someone you'd want on your team.

In reply to Cactus: Any help would be welcome or just partying would also be a option
Just realized I'm out of town both race weekends. I live in Akron though, and could easily be coerced into crew help in the future.

Interested in some seat time as well, please message me cost/details. Nelsons my home track and I was at that trackday as well. Licensed SCCA member since 99, racing in Improved Touring S (RX7 and Integra) Currently running an STL Integra Thanks Brian
Available, Nearby, but zero track experience outside of Track Nights and HPDE events. I could put on some spandex and hold an umbrella over the drivers on grid?

If they don't take you up on that offer, we will for the event at Pitt race. Umbrella dudes is the new thing.

1 Mid-ohio seat left (2) seats available for PIRC
Mid-Ohio is full, still have two seats for PIRC
I'll preface this by saying I have an SCCA Novice license with my Waterford school + one race weekend so I don't have a ton of seat time. I have also done a couple auto-x and HPDEs.
I can make the PIRC event but don't have a lap time to give you there or Mid O.
I've actually never worked on an E30 but drove (and subsequently fixed) an E28 for a number of years and my race car is an E21.

Had a great time at Mid-o looking for two drivers for PItt
PIRC is the track formerly known as BeaverRun. My first race was there, with ChumpCar in 2011. Very fun track, wish I could make it but just too much going on. I have a men's large (IIRC, it's been a few years since I've worn it) fire suit, single layer so you'll need fireproof long John's. I'd loan it to someone for the cost of shipping as long as it comes back dry-cleaned.
I have an evening flight out on the 7th, but if you need any assistance Sat or Sun morning, let me know. I know some folks with a bit of track experience at PittRace if you want me to put the word out locally.
