I keep looking at the photos in the ad, and I don't see a typical tube frame Lotus 7 clone. I think I see box section side rails and foam coming out of various sheet metal joints. Any chance the builder was trying to build a monocoque version?

He may have boxed both sides of the frame. Although that roll bar seems to be attached primarily to hopes and dreams and I have no idea what the rear shocks are mounted to.
There is a monocoque version of the Seven, I believe it was made by Robin Hood. Some small problems with the seatbelt anchors failing.

It looks like they're attached to the underneath of the roll bar...
