Ran across this listing....
They are within striking distance, but luckily the timing is not good, or SWMBO would not be happy with me dragging these home.

I've always been intrigued by these cars, but know less than nothing about them. They seem pretty simple - what is parts availability like?
They look a quest: how would a v4, on front wheel drive, hindered by AC pulling around a fiber glass two seater on skinny 15 inch rims pay you back?.
That radiator filler pipe, with the throttle rod tab welled to it, on the back side of the motor could be a tell.
They are actually pretty reliable and theres a kit to disable the free wheel. Headlight pop up is as simple as it gets. That throttle linkage is correct it is the pivot rod you see. Pretty fun little cars and simple to repair. The v4 is pretty much the old ford v6 missing 2 cylinders. They dont have exhaust manifolds the pipes attach to the heads. Ford engined simple little cars.
The garbage can lid as a hood is actually quite fitting. That said, I am intrigued by these cars only because of their uniqueness. But as I've often found out, uniqueness usually doesn't equal goodness.

The "Mustang" (Capri, then Ranger, then Explorer, then Mustang again, in the US) V6 is the V4 with two more cylinders. It was originally a V4 in 1950, and it grew into a V6 later.
Ford got way more mileage out of that engine than any other manufacturer got from any other engine family, possibly excepting the VW aircooled Type 1 engine. Chevy only made the small block family of engines for 44 years, Ford went almost a decade longer.
I didn't think these cars existed anymore. I remember a tale from Eric Burmeister about being behind one on a stage rally. A Sonnett with a 900 Turbo drivetrain in it, with the boost turned up to ludicrous levels.

Now that sounds like Fun!
If I didn't already have way too many projects going already, those look like they'd be neat to play with.
