I picked this up from a guy when I had the doomed Passat. I gave him $50 for it (I don't know why, I have a problem) and would like to get that back. It came out of a 2000 Passat 1.8 turbo so it is for a longitudinal engine and FWD. 5 speed.
maybe something for you guys who want to build something amidships. Come get it.
I just want you to know, I was a little nervous to click that thread title. ![indecision indecision](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/whatchutalkingabout_smile.png)

Do you have an idea how much it weighs?
I can pick it up by myself, but really prefer to have a helper. Maybe 150-200 lbs.
Sorry, I only came in here for the jokes

Dammit, you're close enough to be dangerous. Can you tell what specific transmission this is?

When you make a lot of power, you blow them so often you can get them off with one hand.
In all seriousness, that looks like a front drive 01A. That is a relatively low power rating transmission and generally worthless to anyone besides people with high power VW Foxes.
Technically a five, V6, or V8 will bolt up to it, but it probably won't be very happy about it.
Mid engined VW Locost build anyone? It looks like it would be good for that.
