Looking for a rallycross car. Im located in VA and will be at Rally Farm next year.
Budget is around 2018 budget, so figured here would be a good place start.
1st choice: rwd
2nd choice: fwd
3rd choice: awd
Needs to fit 14" rally tires (already own some). 4x100 preferred.
Budget includes maintenance, meaning im not opposed to doing a swap, but it also needs to come from budget.
Please let me know what you have. Willing to travel to get something.
Paul

Did captdownshift get rid of his 323 project stuff? The price was right on it but it does currently have your 2nd choice of drivetrain.

Speaking of him- have we heard from him recently?
That e30 is the definition of a project for sure. I think ill pass on that for now and try to find something at least with the motor in it.
The 323 doesnt do anything for me, sry.
I've been kicking around the idea of selling my rallycross/road rally Civic to fund a stage car build. Depending on what was/was not included - Koni Sports / Ground Control suspension, Baja Designs Hi-Power LED light bar, multiple sets of spare wheels and tires, spare motor, spare trans, spare axles, spare suspension, etc - it might get close to Challenge budget. She may not be sexy, but placed 1st in 2WD and 1st overall in the Finger Lakes region this year, beating out a gaggle of Subarus and a Focus RS. Little bit of a hike from NY to VA but not unreasonable, and I'd have no concerns about driving the car back.
4x100 pattern with Maxsport RB1 rally tires mounted and ready to rumble, as shown below.
Some pics from earlier in the season...

Of you're on facebook, join these two groups:
DC rally/rallycross group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/165531243849650/
(DC) dirt cheap future racecars group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1000422533342761/
On our local CL, here would be some good choices that would take 14" tires, could be competitive, to some degree, are RWD, and are manual transmission and near your price range:

The civic is hitting the easy button, lmk what you decided. Im not 100% onboard with it because I really want to try rwd, but it wouldnt hurt to look further.
The groups on facebook was a terrible/best idea ever for my wallet. Ill start glancing at fb more often. I saw a mr2 rallycross car from september. It is exactly what i need.
Thanks
What about a 2wd 2004 ranger for 1500 bucks? Id drive it home.....
Not keen on the ranger, but the bug i love.
i also have a fox mustang, maybe we could work something out
91 Saab 900? Four door NA though...
Depending on how the new acquisition goes, I may be putting teh RX-7 up for sale.
Wife wasn't keen on bug, mustang would be an opportunity.
Rx7 id be interested in, but worry about the rotary, just because I don't know them. Guess I could always swap it. Lmk

The engine is by far the most reliable and maintenance free part of the car. Change the oil before every event and clean/oil the air filter after, and change the plugs a couple times a season, and it's solid.
Now, I can't get a transmission to last long enough to get a fluid change...
Would this be a race car only, or are you looking for something that will be tagged and driven to events?
Racecar only will most likely be the cheapest option, but if i can get something with antique tags, it is a plus.

i got you covered with a 28 year mustang LOL
We're no longer racing our NA Miata so it could be available. But we trailer it and not sure if it's able to get tags in VA as it was totalled before we got it.
