I know kneeboarding isn't really big anymore, but I still have vivid memories of what happens when you catch the nose for a millisecond. You faceplant so fast that water blows out your ears after entering your nose, and you don't know it's going to happen until after it's happened.

They likely hold gauges.
Add a cage and make it a Slolom boat!
That looks similar to a Mercury water mouse, which was a small boat originally designed for folks to tool around in a lake at Disney Land. My neighbor had one and spent a lot of time trying to sell it. Hers did not have anything near 50 hp though.
One is a gas gage, the other is an auto inflate body bag.

I have a 14 ft. Python, that hull is a biplane compaired to my MISSILE, I'm scared of it, not even looking for an engine.
The first pic does a really good job of camouflaging the motor. But the 2nd pic, yikes.
Search for miniboat. A bunch out there, but usually with about 10hp or so.
I think I want one. Maybe with slightly smaller engine.
That would be a whole lot of fun until it wasn't
