I have a porsche 914 where the rear fiberglass deck lid is long and flat and i want to mount the wing towards the rear of it. But since underneath it is the engine, ill need to be able to remove the deck lid (dzused on) to work on it. I need a good solution for quickly removing the wing when necessary, but is still be solidly attached to the chassis. Any input is appreciated!
Got pics inside & outside? Been a long time since I've even seen a 914 up close.

Tube chassis car that's unfinished chassis wise so the world is my oyster. but the picture attached is what the rear deck lid will look like
What about attaching it to the rear bulkhead (like maybe where the bumper would bolt on) and having supports come up to hold the wing near the trunklid?
Seems like that could be strong and give easy access to quickly remove it?

Tube chassis 914? We need more in depth pictures... For science...
I think the location of said tubes is the important thing here. Wings and rear access are a difficult combo. You may want to consider a setup where the mounts are well mounted to the chassis, and if you take the wing off the mounts you can remove the engine cover. I had a setup something like that in a Miata once - had to pull the wing off to get the trunklid off the car. Four bolts.
Mounting the wing to structure under the rear bumper is probably the way to go.
Can't help you with your wing issue but you need to figure out how to graft the 944 rear window hatch onto your 914.

Oooh nice. Looks like a nice chassis to make an outlaw out of. Your wing mounting options should be plentiful.
How about something like this and the brackets could tie to your cage and also be useful for supporting a rear splitter? It could be exposed and as pretty or just functional as you wanted given the lack of anything but a bit of sheet metal in the way. Maybe quick release fasteners to the brackets that protrude thru the body and then quick fasteners there with the brackets permenantly attached to the spoiler? Maybe get kinky and allow for different angles of attack at the same mounting point?

I really like the look of that upright design. It gives me a good idea actually. I think one of my next purchases will be from 9lives so i can get some cad going. the cardboard kind

They have had a ton of insight that they have shared with the forum. There is an thread they keep active where they humor/answer our random aero answers if you want to start there or reach out to them directly. Let them know where you heard of them.
Cool project. The car fits the garage or vice versa.
In reply to 84FSP :
I don't honestly remember where i heard of them first. i feel like it was from grazing this forum for a couple years but its hard to remember. Im now commonly exposed to them
Anyone tried/tested the suction cup wings advertised in the mag?
Im just asking because it's a removable item which the OP is seeking.

That was my first guess. Surprised I haven't seen a comment yet. (Ok, yours counts)
I'd mount the wing so that the deck lid clears it and just use some hitch pins instead of bolts where the side plates attach to the chassis. For most engine compartment access just pull the deck lid and then if you need the wing out of the way pull the pins.
In reply to APEowner :
not a bad idea, that really helps with avoiding letting it get stolen. Nobody wants to disassemble a car to steal the wing. doesn't mean they wont but it helps. Suction cups are a no no from me. i can barely stick one to a mirror, let alone a fiberglass decklid.
