So results are up and I really blew it on my last run, with 3 cone hits dropping me to 4th in class.....behind 3 rx-7s, shocker. I was 10 seconds off the leader in the morning session, but almost 20 seconds back in the afternoon. Only 11 seconds out of 2nd though.

Also a the usual post-up by the Dirty E30 crew for event dominance (or non-dominance):

The overall times are off, since the two PR cars only got 4 runs int he afternoon rather than 5, so add 79 seconds to each of their times...

Per Scot Crowner:

Fastest E30 single lap time, obviously afternoon:

77.786 James (SR) (Had 4 in the air on this run!) 77.836 JayJosh (MR) (Must have cheated - it is a 1.8L piece of junk.) 78.329 Chris (PR) 82.680 Scot (SR) 82.727 Steven (PR) DNS Spencer

E30 day totals, There will be surface differences, but who cares:

806.752 Chris (PR) (WTH? Chris 1st place? Something wrong here....) 833.043 Steven (PR) 880.458 JayJosh (MR) 885.085 James (SR) (I thought you beat JayJosh? He does have a 318.) 917.358 Scot (SR) DNS Spencer (MR)

The E30 CONE Crazy (highest award):

9 James (SR) (Had the most fun of the day - AGAIN!) 7 Steven (PR) 5 Scot (SR) 5 JayJosh (MR) 2 Chris (PR) (Ah - I see - paid corner workers and got the fast time above.) 0 Spencer (MR) (One clean day)

If I made a mistake, who cares.....

A few minor things tonight. First checked various things regarding the lack of starting. Battery still at full charge, so it's either the ignition switch or the solenoid. After pulling the switch out it was clearly the culprit, as it had been "repaired" with some sloppy soldering by some previous owner and the post for one of the wires was loose and wobbly. Once I pulled it off the housing literally fell apart, scattering all the pieces on the ground. Guess that will be replaced, lol.

While I was in there I disabled the steering wheel lock and changed the lock cylinder so my ignition key matches the door key. Only issue is I only have ONE of that key, so I need to get copies made. Apparently that can't be done at any key place....they don't have the right blanks....so I guess I have to go get raped by the dealer to do it :(

Getting the lock cylinder back in was alot of fun too, trying to get the little plastic cup and the spring to line up, and slot the assembly in. But it's done now (hopefully works normally).

While I was in there did some cleaning up, pulling all the under-dash wiring for the long-gone cruise control. Not saving much weight, but at least that's less crap to have to diagnose when electrical issues come up.

Not really related to the subject of the last post, but man, that flocking on the dash really does look awesome. It's way up the priority list for my E30 now. I wish it wasn't stored 400mi from here, haha.

Amen to that, the huge bumps and ruts seem smaller and the bad noises seem quieter when there's a trailer waiting in the paddock to drag whatever's left home at the end of the event.

honestly, I don't really worry about that. I don't want to wreck the car into a tree obviously, but while driving I'm never thinking about "not breaking something."

er...I mean....yeah clearly that's why I'm not as fast as you guys

Yeah but I don't have to drive a probe either .

I tried the FWD thing with the saturn first but even if it is not as fast I enjoy RWD cars more. Maybe I need to try a FWD car that actually has decent tires and setup before completely giving up on them. I'll have to steal yip's car for some runs at the T&T in the fall if he can make it there.

It is not a front of the mind worry. It is that nagging voice in the back of your head that says you need to slow down here to make it around this corner

Of course you need to do it this summer.. What else would you work on during the summer break from RallyX?

I'll have a new baby in July, so will be budget-constrained, sleep-constrained, time-contrained, and noise-constrained, lol....

You're just jealous of the custom paint :)

My choice of car was dictated by one thing, the first running car under $500 for an event 2 days away, and even with that requirement it still needed a water pump the night before! lol If it makes it through the entire season this year I do have an inclination to go RWD for next year.

unfortunately, my 2-bay garage is directly beneath my 4-year-old's room AND the new nursery room.

The e30 street wheels have star specs on them. I may do some autocross just for laughs. Or I may run the WRX some more if I can get a few more events out of the near-death AD08's.

$500? I think you overpaid. Neither of my rallyx cars cost that much.

I ended up ordering 4 or 5 of the metal blanks. Probably stash one in the car someplace for when I drop the primary one in the middle of a rallycross field someplace, lol.

Actually was $400 all in, but I'm still waiting for Danny to give me a car too, I think he's smarter than all of us!

so for a bit of fun:

I had some credit from a printing place, so I used some of it to get some stickarz made. The original design was from Scot Crowner (the original ETA rallycrosser locally), I think from his LeMons or Chumpcar e30 team. Anyhow, made some small modifications to it and got it printed up for the e30 guys running in WDCR :)
