Well, not much building going on, so, consider this an introduction.
Picked up a 1985 Toyota Celica GT about two weeks ago, for the princely sum of $300, Canadian.
It was last insured a decade ago, and hadn't run in at least two years. P/O told me it burned oil, and made big, dense, block filling clouds of smoke, but it did run...well, it used to.
When I went to get it, my roommate and I pushed it down to my work, a car detailing shop, where we siphoned the tank, and got a refurb battery, since the car didn't have one. With $15 in the tank, car started right up like it was just a week ago it ran last.
Of course, it proceeded to fill with block with choking smoke.
Eventually the smoke screen effect died down, and after pootling up and down the street, decided to set off for home. Cracked tires and all.
The next day, I foolishly tried to take it to my brother in law's father's place to do a leakdown/pressure test. Was going perfect, until it sputtered and died climbing a hill...and I remembered that the voltmeter was reading 12v....it now read around 6-8v.
BIL came to my rescue with a spare battery, and got it home.
Now, got a rebuilt battery, all shiney and new-ish installed. Being a beautiful day, I figured I'd take the opportunity to video document my $300 purchase.
