This car recently got traded in where I work. Shortly after that the right front control broke in the parking lot, rendering the car inoperable. A call to the local Subaru dealer revealed that the recall for this issue had already been completed. The powers that be quickly decided to send it to the crusher rather than deal with it so I swooped in and bought it for what they had into it; $200. I figured I'd use some parts for my 2002 WRX, maybe sell some stuff, then scrap it.

Then I looked closer. Solid rockers, new exhaust, good snow tires, started right up and ran with no warning lights on. Hmm... maybe this thing is worth fixing. Acquired a control arm and threw it in. Once on a lift I found the car to be in much better shape than I expected. Very solid underneath... it even has good headgaskets! Drives well, no noises or complaints. Don't you hate it when you need a parts car for your parts car? The only bad news, which was expected, was the other front control arm is looking pretty tender and will also need to be replaced.

Slight issue here.

The car:

The plan: replace the other control arm, do some basic service, and cosmetic clean up. Debating trying to fix the typical Subaru rear wheel arch rust.

Total expense thus far:

Purchase: $200 Used control arm: $80

Fix the rust. Check the rear strut towers for rust.

Flip it or rally-X it. Either way - Profit!! (One money - one fun - you decide)

This is the last of my three Subarus that I would chose to rallyx, so financial profit it is
