I pulled the trigger and purchased a Mazda 5, it has 102,000 miles.
It was a one owner vehicle before it was purchased by a shop that fixed the rear corners (Rusted NE care) Rear sway bar bushings and control arms.
So far I have cleaned the interior, the seats need a scrubbing anybody have any advice on products that clean seats?
Items that I want to replace:
Plugs & Wires
air and cabin filter
oil change
Anything else that I might be missing?
The keyless entry remotes are not working so I am also going to change the battery to see if that fixes the issue.
You're missing some pics.
This will lead you to the long standing GRM Mazda5 thread
Welcome to the Mazda5 Mafia.
The Mazda 5 has surprisingly little ground clearance, if you are experiencing any of that Buffalo-like snow.
I lowered mine a bit and am
Surprised at what it touches. Welcome to the minivan mafia, I'm about to turn 100000 on mine also.
On mine, you have to change the fobs batteries while the other key is on or some such nonsense or it loses it programming. Check the manual for that info.

Glad you were able to find one locally. I know it would have been quite the trip to Georgia!
[Shameless Plug] Just a reminder, but I'm selling my Mazda5 manny tranny. Ya know, just in case anyone is interested... [/Shameless Plug]

One of my first questions was does it autocross and the thread above answers that questions.
I was surprised it does not have traction control, it is nice to have that feature living in the frozen tundra.
pictures are up

I prefer the terminology of Euro-Hatchback, I do not admit that it is a van
I knew that it had a hitch but also discovered it is all wired up for a trailer (Score!)

Just change all the fluids, its got 100K miles and no one does it anymore.
Probably the coolest looking interior Ive seen in a minivan.
As far as the seats, I always use a cocktail of stuff from simple green, woolite in a shampooer, and some carpet cleaner that comes with a brush on the can I get at oreillys. Ive always had pretty good luck but thats on older cloth seats.
These cloth seats in newer cars stain so badly, looks like spills/sweat stains on a shirt, and I dont know how to remove that stuff. If you get it clean though, id try to scotch guard it.
I have had good luck with Blue Coral Upholstery Cleaner. Works great any time I try it on car seats but for some reason it doesnt seem to do much for cleaning the headliner in my car.
So far I have had the lower control arm replaced, the exhaust had some holes and was patched, but I will probably have it replaced if I continue to own it. My first full tank was 20MPG 120 miles highway and 126 city driving. I am going to replace the oil, filter, and air filter, next week, see if there is any improvement.
I replaced the oil and filter, and the air filter which was really dusty. I am in the high 20's but I mainly street drive. I have the infamous rattle, so I plan to replace the front and rear sway bar bushings, any recommendations on where to purchase the bushings? If they does not cure the problem then I will check the end links maybe?
Yeah, those are the weak "links", lol. My mz5 has the same odometer reading as yours.
In reply to chandlerGTi: Have you replaced any other suspension items?
I have a 2012 so all my experience is anecdotal. I have replaced the rear end links and the bushings when I replaced the RSB.
So I replaced the Spark Plugs and Cabin Filter, they both looked to be original please see pic below.
I went with NGK Iridium Plugs and a ATP Carbon filter. Both have made improvements so far.
Next is Front and Rear bushings, I bought Moog K200624 & K200623 from RockAuto. They kill me on the shipping because they came from different locations .
You going to autocross it this spring?
I should be doing my bushings this weekend too. Rockauto shipping did the same to me, yet still cheaper than buying locally.
good call on the spark plugs i ought to replace those as part of spring maintenance. still trying to hit that elusive 30+mpg, cant seem to get higher than 29mpg so far.
Did you ever do anything with your key fobs? mine also have some...interesting behavior. I am pretty sure I downloaded a TSB that goes over the programming procedure for the keys that I'll likely try when i find the right damn batteries..
In reply to Richard Nixon: I might try one event, I am probably going to focus more on Chumpcar and karting this summer.
In reply to failboat: No luck with the Key Fobs still works when it wants to.
It snowed recently and I wasn't able to change out the Bushings, they are pretty rusted, I will try again when it gets warm out.
One Of my fobs failed a couple weeks ago, I popped the cover and matched it up to one at the jewelry counter at meijer and put it in. No weirdness... That's good, I use the fob extensively. Lock and unlock my doors twenty-thirty times a day.
I need to changes front struts but I'm holding back, wavering on selling it and getting something new. 2012 turned over 108800 on my way home today.
In reply to trigun7469:
the rears are easy to get to backing up onto ramps. new bushings + grease = no more noise. the fronts look like they will be fun to swap, I have put those off for now. all sorts of suggestions on mazdas247...you need to drop the subframe...you dont need to drop the subframe...take off a wheel and reach through the side...
Im going try with the front up on ramps and just using socket extensions and a wobble joint or two.
I have 1 key that works most of the time, or it acts like the battery is dead. the other, I put a new battery in, and it likes to set the alarm off 80% of the time you try and unlock the doors so it currently has no battery in it.
