Any smart folks want to take a guess before I start messing with this tomorrow?
Also intake was off, so that explains the maf. Symptoms are the same with intake installed.

Did you clear the DTC's and try again? Ross-Tech is pointing the 000768 at the intake system leaking as the primary cause. It could also be the low fuel level.

Those are fresh dtc’s. I’m going to throw a jug of fresh supreme in it today then start checking for vacuum leaks.
At least it appears to be timed right, no cam sensor out of range codes to be seen. Double check all of your PCV connections, these cars are way too sensitive in that area. I'll see what else I can dig up. They drive great when they are working right. I got mine out of the garage to stretch it's legs a bit yesterday. I need to replace my oil filter housing and gaskets, maybe then it will stop marking it's territory. Then onto axles and wheel bearings.

If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods I’ll buy you a beer. Full report later but I am working from home today and used my hour lunch to replace a bunch of o rings on the evap hoses. It’s 95% better.

I went through 3 NAPA PCVs in a month. You are better off buying them from a place that gives you the latest revision letter. The PCV on this motor will make it or break it. A marginal coil pack won't always show itself, and will affect the power and economy without you knowing it. Inexpensive red top coils can be found on Amazon.
Glad I could help. I've put 60,000 miles on mine. Maintain it, and it will reward you.
Well I took it for a test drive tonight. Something must have shifted or come loose in the vacuum lines again because I once again have a miss and multiple cylinder misfire.
Going to borrow a smoke machine in the next few days and hit it with that.
Well I failed to fix it again this evening, it seemed to only misfire at idle so I put the scanner on it with misfire counter function on and took it for a short drive. Sure enough once it was under load it was fine. So I did what any responsible human would do and did a quick second gear pull. When I returned to the garage I found I had a cam sensor code now....
Hazzah!
back together tonight with a new timing chain tensioner. Misfires and chain slap gone.
only light remaining on is parking brake related. I think it’s on because the parking hold button is all messed up. Will try taking it apart next.
Passat has been dead nuts reliable until today when my wife called me and said “ it won’t go into gear and smells like burning”
I got in my truck and drove to meet her and found a very fragrant clutch. So let the clutch shopping begin!

Pretty sure Sachs is OE. I'd replace the hydraulics while you have it apart, and check the rear main seal. The factory rear main is super sensitive to crankcase pressure.
Mine has been serving daily duty for the Missus.

I took 2.5 hours last night and started tearing it down. The only thing holding the trans in place is one bolt and the input shaft. May head out now and finish dropping it before supper.
I can’t really be mad at the car, it was very cheap. I’m only pissed because it’s taking garage time away from my turbo ls truck project.
