After the 4x4 swap, new bumpers are planned
The auto is going bad in Blue, we simply cant tow without it overheating and then dumping fluid, I suspect the pump is not functioning correctly as the cooler stays cold while the trans is very hot.
Replacement trans acquired, I haven't started pulling the old one but everything is here from a new torque converter to the rebuilt auto.
Awesome. After having my long bed for a couple months, I can't imagine owning a pickup without an 8' bed.
In other news, I finished the front end rebuild on mine, installed the new brake pads and put it back together. At which point both front calipers locked down to varying degrees. Put new calipers on and failed to check the threads in one bracket and they were apparently really bad. The M16 bolts bound up so hard I had to cut them out with a sawzall. Now I'll be reusing one rusty bracket for a new caliper and going to the Ford dealer today to get new mounting bolts...
And I was trying to get the boat to the lake this weekend for the first time with Blue Bell. Oh well.
We swapped the front and rear trans seals along with the rear main seal before reinstalling the trans. One week later something has let go and dropped all the engine oil, we haven't been under it yet but suspect the new rear mail failed, so here we go again.
arrrrggghhhh. nothing worse than doing a job twice...
