The only thing that counts toward the budget is what is on the car when it shows up at the Challenge.

Yes, any paid shop services must be included, this would include dyno time.

Unless you buy your own dyno.

No one here has contemplated purchasing a portable dyno setup to tune their 20xx$ race car....

I was sure I could make a money maker out of it somehow.

But then I remembered:

1- Other Challengers would have to put it in THEIR budgets.

2- Challengers are cheap.

Nope. Not a good business plan.

I took my sc400 to something like 180mph on the dyno the had at the challenge one year. Was fun.

Optional friendly pool. $75 for 3 pulls. You keep $50 of that, winner takes $25.

The dragstrip can provide a lot of data and isn't a paid service.
