The inner wheel wells were opened up to clear the tire up to full compression of the spring/shock in my simulation using all-thread rod the proper length to test the position. The pics a few posts up show the tire full up and clearing (although not yet welded in those pics).

I am 75 years old and have had major surgery that has ended my ability to enjoy working on cars and will prevent me from finishing my P1800.

I can talk fairly well but can no longer read or write.  Please be considerate of my wife as she will do the writing for me.

As most of you know, I have a 1964 Volvo P1800 in progress that I have modified using a complete 1999 Mazda Miata.  I have done the work to merge the cars and have enough parts to significantly finish but am unable to do so.

A friend, which some of you have followed, has built a P1800 with a Miata which would show you a finished build. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/volvo-p1800eskinda/72311/page1/  Volvo P1800ES...kinda

For those that may not know, my 1999 Miata was a complete, nice-running car and all Miata parts are included. Also included are two additional P1800s with a fair amount of parts.

Alabama did not require a title for the P1800s but I have a bill of sale for each. The Miata includes a title and bill of sale.

Realizing that there is a good bit of work to do, I hope someone will take on this project to finish.

All cars and parts must be removed in the next few months and to make this go quickly, it's all free.

Unfortunately if someone does not take this on within a few months, I will have no alternative but to have everything crushed, which would be a shame.

If more photos are needed, I will try to get them posted.

If you have genuine interest, I will provide my phone number to give as many details as you  need.

Alabama is far from me but this is a smoking project. I'll have to give it some thought. I'm sorry to hear about your medical challenges. The fantastic projects you showed at the beginning of the thread give me confidence that this one is a good one for someone to finish!

If this project does not show up at a future challenge it will be a crying shame.  Most of the chassis fab is done with the two shells now being one piece; easy finish from here on.   Curious how the challenge rules would count the budget as it was announced here for free?

Since the project is at the roller stage,  it could easily be assembled with the Miata drivetrain and some cheap e-bay fender flares to get you past GRM tech. The builder has also gone to the effort of keeping the AC viable so street use as a Summer Hot Rod is a possibility. I sure could have used it in the Molvo yesterday on a nice  but warm 200 mile run!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues.  You've done some really cool work with this project and it's a shame you won't be able to complete it.  I would love to claim it but i just don't have the space or time to take it on.  I wish you the best, my GRM friend.

what other patrick said 100%. I have loved watching this come together and wish I was in a position to get it across the finish line.

If you need some enabling, I'll gladly volunteer to come along and help with loading and transportation. This is too good a project not to be finished, and the Bean has given you the tools to do it :)

So sorry to hear about your health challenges. It's clear that youre passionate about fab work. You've started something incredible here! Hoping someone is able to take this off your hands. Cincinnati is a long way from Alabama, and I have no delusions about my ability to finish this cool project, so unfortunately I cannot accept. Best of luck and hope things go well for you in the future.

I'm sorry to hear about your medical situation and I hope and pray for the best recovery possible.

What's your zip code?  I'm trying to put together a team to come get this. Would the first week or two of October be soon enough? I'll send you a PM with my contact info.

Bumping this to see it might have found a home. I was having a lot if fun helping the owner built a cousin of the Molvo and it is way to far along to abandon.

The fact that there was never an  engine swap is going to make this a LOT easier to complete than the Molvo since there will be no fabrication required to get it moving under its own power; just bolt the Miata drivetrain back in. Except for the lack of V8 acceleration, I think that this might be a nicer car to daily drive than the Molvo due to the AC and Miata factory NVH.

Hey! My son is a 15 year old photographer and gearhead. You can find him online as Gas Pedal Kid. He's been looking for a big build project and something to cut and build on. This looks like a great opportunity. We are in Southern middle Tennessee and would love to talk with you about adoption.

I just signed up after a friend sent me the story so I can't DM yet. Maybe you can message me though. Otherwise, I would happily share contact info some how

I just got off the phone with "senginc".  He's an amazing guy and we talked some specific requirements for transporting the car in it's current state.  I'm pulling together the details and will confirm with him soon.  Look for a GRM express / general help wanted post shortly....

Thanks, for the vote of confidence, but it won't just be in my hands:  I'm assembling a team of Midwest GRM'ers (with high school students too).  Let's put it this way:  the bad decision triangle has been contacted and is expanding 😉😜
