Grabbed some breakfast after a few hours of shut eye

HeHeHe. 🤭😊
We put the springs and shocks back in the car. Going to place the engine in position for transporting.
Senginc and his wife are amazing people. We still have a good bit of work to do to get it loaded. Will 100% be more than one trip to gather it all home.

Solid plan!
In reply to NOHOME :
I am under the impression that there is at least another trip planned. Fingers crossed.
In reply to NOHOME & Piguin:
Yes, LOTS still left behind & yes, there will be at least one more trip.
If anyone needs anything off of one of the two remaining Parts cars (or an entire parts car) Act quickly. Post here, reach out to me or senginc. Otherwise they will be melted down for scrap.
Taillights for the Coupes are rare and pricey. Same for the door handles and any fender trim ( hockey sticks)
Senginc, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you and your wife yesterday. Thank you so much for your hospitality and spending most of your day with my son and me. And of course, thanks for passing along this amazing creation you've started. We intend to make you proud. I'll be in touch later to schedule another visit. I will honor your request and filter any pictures and information to respect your privacy. As we spoke about yesterday, I will keep you both in our prayers.
Trip report:
We left Indianapolis last night around 6pm and drove until about an hour and a half north of Birmingham where we grabbed a few Zzzz's in the back of the Armada. Woke up and arrived at sengic's home about 9am.
First order of business was a tour of the car, and all the parts he has ammassed. Then we progressed to getting the car ready for transporting. Here's a brief summary of what that looked like:
We left their house about 4:00pm
Not many pictures were taken while we worked to get the car mobile, but I asked Mrs. Senginc to take this picture below. I cherish the unedited one for myself, but will show you guys this filtered one:
It's the classic passing of the torch picture.
I happy to report the Armada performed great for the tow home, requiring only fuel and an oil top up. We received several thumbs up and stares along the route. This car gets attention. Everyone loves pics so here are several along the way.
As Gariation illuded to earlier, we dropped the car off at his house, arriving at Midnight. The team will be build the car mostly in his garage, and wow, is it a nice garage.
Pics of unloading on getting it settled in:
And here's the beginning of team Barely Functional Racing:
Anyone in the greater Central/ Southern Indiana area and beyond is welcome to join the team. Stay turned for build party Invitations. Let's get this finished!
So is this going to be a challenge car or a nice resto-mod to drive around? With the two being mutually exclusive, I am not sure what to hope for.
In reply to NOHOME :
That's a good question. We are going to have a team meeting and discuss it's future. It's an amazing opportunity to get it to the Challenge. That might be build 1.o, where build 2.o would be to refine it for cruiser duty. Again, team meeting and evaluation first.

I wholeheartedly disagree that the two are mutually exclusive. I have done a few challenge cars that were nice cars after the challenge as well. Theres no reason it CAN'T be done if that is a goal.
Seriously. Hes got 2k of budget and 2k of recoup to work with as well....
Its a matter of priority and effort and seeing what yoy want to OWN in your head and building that.

The headlight sheet metal doesn't look bad either, other than a bit of surface rust. Being Southern cars, they might be restoration candidates. I can put out a feeler on the 1800list if we think it'll help.

Yes, please pass the word. Besides the remaining parts we left behind that belong to this car, the others cars need to find someone who can them whole or their parts. I quickly snapped some random pics of them:
Edit: the blue car is probably savable (with a ton of work of course) but the yellow one with brown nose should only be considered a parts car.
In reply to Indy - Guy :
Thanks - I copied the pictures and posted them. If I get any bites, I'll pass them along. Let me know the best way to contact him or his wife.
BTW - do you happen to have the chassis number of the car you have? There is a registry for the Volvo 1800: Volvo 1800 Pictures and global register – A website with all you want to know about Volvo 1800
Kinda annoyed with myself for not mentioning this to you prior to you heading down there and maybe getting the chassis numbers from the parts cars.
In reply to Ian F (Forum Supporter) :
Yes, I have the chassis number, I'll look into getting it on the register.
Thanks for posting the registry link. If someone wants to contact senginc, send them my way and I can filter and them pass along the info.
Would you look at these stable mates.
Ok, can't seem to get pic to load, just imagine a cool vintage Volvo wagon parked next to the P1800.
Edit, trying again to upload pic.
You'll need to log in to post.
