Yes. Good work, Sometimes the trans getting back to it proper spot is tough. When I put my first manual trans back into a car I ruined a new clutch disc 'cause the splines were not seated. I kept tightening it down.. I was young and dumb and I did not understand how the splines needed to "spin" to line up with the clutch disc.
Good luck!

Thank you. The splines lined up and engaged the disc but it wouldn't seat against the bellhousing like the last go around. It is a new pilot bearing freshly greased but just would not slide home. I jostled, wiggled, shook, and swore at it then used some much longer bolts to ensure I had correct alignment before drawing it in to position. I was careful to draw it in slowly and evenly while running around the 4 bolts. It pulled in with no more effort than a light touch on the wrench. We'll see what happens tonight.

Shifter, boot, and knob on. Refilling with oil next. Battery is on charger. Garage is cold. What happened to our early spring weather? Flippin cold outside and in the garage now.
We are getting snow this weekend here in southwestern PA.
Nothing sticking yet.
That's spring for'ya!

I pulled the drain plug last fall when I pulled the pan. No idea where it is now unfortunately. Clean up is going to suck.
Hoist the car and then kitty liter. Or sawdust. Or oil dry if your feeling like a high roller

Back from a vacation trip out to AZ. Family time with the in-laws in Tucson then a run up to Williams for Grand Canyon and Meteor Crater. Both were fantastic.
So the Cougar Valdez spill has been staunched and the drain plug found and screwed back in. I refilled the engine oil and it remained in the pan. Work and weather have been conspiring against me but car will be back on the agenda later this week after the snow melts.
Excited to see if she rolls!

She rolls. Popped the trans in neutral and me and a buddy pushed her outside with no noticeable drag. I'll take that as a good omen. Battery was dead so my charger is on it now and I'll fire her tomorrow after I get her off the ground to verify clutch release. Fingers crossed.

Boom! Very excited to see the car off the stabds and ready for action. The wheels are just perfect on it!
It's tomorrow already. Why must you make us wait?

I got an early morning call that my Dad was on his way to the hospital exhibiting stroke like symptoms. Just got home after he got into his room and got my Mom settled back home. It wasn't a heart attack and were waiting on a neurologist exam. Not what anyone was expecting today .
I got the car spun around and the battery charger back on it. I'll get it off the ground then fire it up and try clutch release. Of course it's supposed to rain just as we arrive at my sons soccer game tonight through tomorrow afternoon. So I got that going for me which is nice.

Thanks Dave!
M1 Concourse is doing a Ford & Lincoln focused Cars & Coffee event where Ford and Lincoln are the featured marques which gets these makes prime spots on the skid pad. They obviously forgot about Mercury and it'll be interesting to see if they let me in to a prime spot.

Dammit! Hooked up the battery charger and blasted the amps. Fuel pump primed then hit the key and no starter spin. Sounds like solenoid is hanging up. Car started fine last summer and fall so I wasn't expecting this issue. Dammit.

Tried it again and same thing. Starter is buzzing but no motion. Gotta get the WK2 soccer game tonight and when we get home it should be raining. I'll R&R the starter and hope that breaks things free. Shouldn't take too long.
I've been following along for 4-5 years and don't recall a new battery. I do remember you were charging it last summer though and if it hasn't been replaced and sat dead all winter I'd start with a fresh battery. Even though you may get 12+ volts with a meter you may not have the cold cranking amps necessary.
In reply to wawazat :
I'm praying for your dad and family. Hope all is well.

Thanks Brian. I'm hoping for the best obviously. He's my first and my favorite car guy.
NOT A TA- I replaced the battery when I got the car in 2016. I'm concerned about why the starter is buzzing but not spinning. That's a new issue I haven't seen before. I'm going to put a socket on a breaker then on the balancer bolt and see if I can move things back and forth enough to have things move a bit. If that doesn't do the trick I'll pull the starter. It's worked without issue for me all along so I'm confused as to what's happening now. I didn't do anything with the crank this time when I pulled the oil pan to reseal things. I though it was the rear main seal but it wasn't. My mind is jumping to the worst possible failure modes and that's bringing me down a lot today.
Maybe just give the starter a whack with a hammer and try again?

That is on the list before pulling the starter too. Thanks.
6 years is a loooooong time for a battery. I'd start there.
