I found a gmt800 near here that is rusty but still together. I'll go look. I don't mind looking at a bunch of stuff if it's close. Never know when you find a good one.
csnt find a Sorrento like bob mentioned. I'll keep looking

I've driven some interesting cars lately. I'll detail it later. The land cruiser with the Dirty Harry style colt in the door pocket was interesting. It was actually a great car. Just full of surprises.
anyways. Wife and I have narrowed it down to a suburban or expedition. If I can't find a pickup those are it.
Armada. Nope.
Expediton, maybe.
Tahoe, maybe. Kinda small.
is this easy button?
Does the "rollback of 58000 miles" mean that it's relaly True miles unknown or the miles listed are wrong.... I will have to inquire.

Now is not the time to search for a beater. In the fall when the car dealers lots are flooded with trade ins is best. Or just after memorial day sales. Is better if you want 4x4's.
Saturns are pretty good values even older ones with their plastic bodies. The basic car seems to be very reliable. My daughter drove her Saturn Ion with a manual transmission ( that she learn on) for over 300,000 miles on the original clutch. It was still running fine when she upgraded to another new car.
Because they are American made Saturns don't command the foreign car premium imports do nor are they Chevy Ford, Dodge. Which have their own premium.
The mid sized GM SUV's Trailblazer, Envoy, etc with the in line six get very good fuel mileage. The engines are very reliable but the transmissions need careful fluid changes every 50,000 miles less if abused or used to pull heavy trailers.
Ford pickups after 2012 improved quality dramatically but rust became an issue. However from 2016 they are military grade aluminum so rust shouldn't be an issue
By 2012 GM's really started to rust early ive seen rust bubble on 2 year old vehicles
Southwest states seem to be the most solid rust free vehicles my Neighbors fly to places like Arizona, rent a car for a weekend and shop local ads and the back lots for bargains. For their kids

Are they offering the pistol as part of the sale?
The Suburbans are a lot of vehicle for the money. My wife's beater/kid hauler is a GMT 800 Suburban with 340k miles on it. Still runs like a top. I actually like the way that chassis drives better than I do my GMT 900 Silverado. I've also had fewer problems with the Suburban.
there was a pretty clean V6 FWD 05 highlander for $6K near Philly, iirc, here in the classifieds. Not 4x4, but a FWD toyota with snow tires is pretty good in snow. could put bikes on the back hatch. would probably tow a small boat or camper. looks to be rated to 3500lb with a tow package. only mentioning because I like the car but don't need it!
"If" you take a hard look at the Highlander family, they want a fresh cam belt every 90,000 miles. I have a a 2005 4wd Limited with a 3.3 V-6. We tow a small utility trailer with it, my sons SCCA FJA kart. I would not tow anywhere near the max capacity over 60 mph. They do not have the breaks to handle the load.
That said ours has 225,000 miles and we are going to keep it.
I pushed the budget a bit and found a 2008 Denali xl for 9K asking. 187k miles, previous owner was this guys sister.. he's a retired engineer.. has a stack of maint history that would choke a moose. Clean inside.. outside is OK.. He attempted some rust repair himself and there is a 8 inches x 1 foot area that was sanded bondo'd and painted with a BRUSH? Issues.. Air suspnesion in the back is out and there is a trans cooler leak. I do not like that it has a only the awd system.. but we shall see.. Ohh and the rear AC lines rotted so he had it blocked off.
anyways.. it has been driven with mecahnical sympathany.. all the major stuff done. no AFM due to the 6.2 liter. Best car i've driven down the road so far. Im trying to get it into the mechanic today. We shall see how it goes. I'm just tired of seeing so much hacked and rusted stuff... I'm not interested in spending $9k.. maybe 8... we shall see.. The thing floats down the road.... drives and stops straight..
As with anything. Condition is most important here..
In reply to Toyman01 (Moderately Supportive Dude) :
I hear you. the GMT800's are a bit easier for me to wrap my head around fixing. I'd prefer one, but everyone i find is rotted or owned by a whacko.. Let's see how this one goes.. if not. many fish in the sea.

I would pass on the rust Denali. Sounds like it's about to start nickle and diming you to death
In reply to Placemotorsports :
Everything up here has rust. It's just part of living in Minnesota. It's just how much do you want to deal with it.
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/cto/d/chanhassen-2008-gmc-denali-for-sale/7169741261.html
I'll throw it through the mechanic and then toss a low offer at him and see what happens.
Found another one. More honest about the rust. It's a little worse condition for body rust, but mechanically better. Only a small power steering line leak, tire pressure sensors that don't work. "Ohh no". And a o2 sensor code.
break lines replaced. Air suspension replaced. Sensors all work. $7k
needs fender flares on the body to solve the rust issue perfectly.
ori just save it as is for a winter/ hauling truck and deal with it. Goes to mechanic on Monday.

What about a drive and drive?one way rental. Pick up the vehicle and drive it back home. More time but a way around.

I would fly down or have someone broker a southern car for you and get it shipped. Look at this one: '07, 131k and $5900.
Suburban
In reply to Slippery (Forum Supporter) :
That one is 2wd. Not something I want in Minnesota. The 2wd machines are significantly cheaper.
that's also has active fuel management. something I don't want.
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
2007 Escalades and Denali don't have the AFM as far as I know. 6.2 v8's
In reply to yupididit :
That's why I'm looking at this Yukon Denali with the 6.2 and 6l80e.
Just looked at a 2002 suburban. Body wasn't bad at all. Was the guys dads truck. He had it at $4k I drove it. Good tires, some body holes. Shifted good etc. ac was blowing hot. Heat was also hot. Had been sitting for a year. Seats roached. Brakes pulsed and pulled. Shocks close to if not blown. Didn't have third row seat as well. I'd like that for the kids. To have extra space.
Offered $3k. Cash. Had to call the family due to escrow stuff. They believe they can get 3500 for it. And didn't budge from there. Told him to call me if he wants it gone.
