I have finally started building my Skyline! This is a challenge qualifying build but I don't have all the documents. I have been collecting parts since 2005. I moved this fall and realized how much space this project is taking up. I tried to sell the parts but no one is interested. I decided to build it to free up space. I know I can just buy one, nut that takes cash I don't have.
I am starting with a rhd 240sx front cut (free off of NICO forum) I had to drive to Chicago to pick it up. A 90 240sx coupe back cut (free from indy shop that was going to scrap it) I didn't cut up a good car. This is going to be a toy not a daily driver.
I got a little carried away with buying r32 parts[winning e bay auctions was a little addictive at first]. I ended with 3 sets of tail light, 2 sets of headlights, 2 rear bumpers, 2 hoods, 2 sets of fenders, 2 trunk lids, 1 front bumper, these are to only things I bought.
Getting things together.
wow! looks like that will be a lot of work, but I can't wait to watch!
That is a daunting tasking, good luck!
I'm excited to see where this goes. It's an awesome project you've taken on!
Go for it Stan, this will be interesting
Do the 240 and Skyline share a common skeleton or are you modding the parts to fit?
With JDM R32's being eligible for importation now (25 year exemption), I am a bit mystified that the endeavor would be undertaken.
However, that statement is not to be interpreted as a discouragement. Awesome fabrication project.
Is this more of a cosmetic job or will it use the GTR drivetrain?
There are some similar parts but most will be modified.

R32s are lots of monies landed to the states, unfortunately. Guy i know in TX just bought one, and it was fairly far on the wrong side of $20k landed.
Granted, it's berkeleying BEAUTIFUL, but that's like... real money and stuff.
In reply to Swank Force One:
Yea they're no joke expensive. Where are all the 5k Canadian and British R32s the forums keep talking about?
Interested to watch this progress.
They're gone now that they can be sold to the US market.

Yep, the minute they turned 25, they quintupled in price. Was I smarter I would have bought a bunch and a warehouse in Winnipeg and driven a truck full.of em over.
I have a confuse. So you have an R32 shell that you're putting an S-chassis drivetrain underneath?

Nearest I can tell he has the guts of an r32 and two halves of s cars that he intends on putting together.
I think it's two S-chassis cars that he's combining for RHD stuffs, then he's covering the whole thing up with Skyline body parts and such.
Swank nailed it. First I am building s13 coupe rhd then converting to r32 body. I have not decided on the drive train but I am leaning towards rb25det neo. I have a long way to go before I have to decide.
I am thinking box flares for rear fenders since I don't have the proper skyline body bulge.
I hope to be welding the halves together this weekend. It helps a have a coupe shell for measurements.
Bobzilla and i will try to come give you a hand soonish.
Why do RHD? Waste of effort and resources that can be allocated elsewhere, especially considering this is basically going to end up as just an S13 with an RB swap and some body parts.

Because that's what the man wants, so that's wjat the man gets.
Why RHD ?Part of the dream man.
Man, I would love to have a RHD car. Sure, going through the drive thru would be hard, but it'd be great. So rare here in the US.
RHD is rare because it usually implies the car was a grey-market import from England or Japan of a car we couldn't get here. RHD-chopping a car that is already sold here is the much-more-work equivalent of putting Type-R badges on something that isn't a Type-R. Also, passing on 2-lanes will get a lot more interesting.
In reply to jsquared: I have wanted a RHD car for a long time and the passing on 2 lane never even crossed my mind lol.
Started welding the two halves together. Promptly realized why I put a fire extinguisher in the shop. There was some foam in the lower part of the front cut and sparks set it on fire. So remember kids keep the extinguisher near you when welding. My shop tip of the day. I did get the front with in a 1/16 of square front to back. I will see what happens after fully welding. right now the door closes great and the trim fits right.
I want to drive this to the Mitty this year.
