There's not much space in the cabin that's for sure. I need to mock up the seats to see if they can live where I want without extending the engine harness 5 foot.

Care to educate on the $32 battery and terminals? This sounds very optimal for some projects around here.....

Here's the battery which has gone up $2 since my purchase. There's not as much thread engagement as I would prefer with this battery. If it strips out I'll re-tap to an m6.: CLICK ME

I've used the same brand battery for about 5 years for various motorcycle projects and my lawnmower. I've run similar from other brands on other cheap car projects and they've managed to work great every time.

No real progress the past week or so. I actually took off Monday from work in hopes to get some stuff done but didn't. Sick kid. Sick/injured dog. Honestly though I just wasn't feeling motivated in the time I did have available.

BUT TODAY I GOT IN THE SHORTENED AXLES!!!!!

I have all of the boots, grease, and clamps required to assemble. I'd like to do a dry test to make sure before getting messy though, which I hope to have the time for this evening.

Unfortunately my evening didn't go as planned. My best friend Charlie took a turn for the worse and we had to say goodbye. He's in Doggy Valhalla now with a fellow friend or two. I'll probably spend some time in the garage to give me a distraction. Today though we mourn.

So sorry for your loss.  Charlie looked like he had a good life. 

Sorry for the loss of Charlie.  No doubt an awesome companion.  It's been exactly 8 years since my black lab, Bella crossed to the other side.  I got misty eyed the other day thinking about how she rode shotgun for so many years in my truck.   

He lived a great life for sure and made a lot of folks lives better by knowing him. Unfortunately he was just a pup at 7 years old, but sometimes you get what you get and just be glad you got to witness greatness.

It was a busy Saturday and then Sunday was mostly spent trying to catch up fleet maintenance. A couple washes, oil changes, and a battery replacement took a good chunk of time. After that was done I got a few minutes to dry assemble the axles. Both slid into place as intended and will bolt up perfectly. The outer boot I used to replace the factory welded one is from a 95-02 4Runner. It looks like it should work great and if you didn't know any better would assume was factory. I also bought some new inner boots but wanted to wait until these were confirmed to fit before I assemble the last time.

I'm a bit surprised to see the angle sloping upward as much as it does. Oh well. Unless it's problematic this is where everything fit up best so no use worrying about it.
