Accessories going on. Intake and throttle body bolted on, closed the hood and checked the throttle linkage for binding on the hood supports, it did. Upon careful examination, a slight bending of the return spring bracket on the throttle body clears the hood bracing and we didn't have to cut anything. Car will be running Monday. He's modifying the power steering bracket as we speak (type).
Don't be afraid to hammer clearance that hood support a little, too!

This was done too. Can't really see it though. LOL

It lines up fine though. LOL What about the alternator top bracket? Did you need spacers?

belteshazzar...
Starter doesn't fit. Engine and everything is too low. This may be why I didn't have any problems with hood clearance. LOL

Nevermind... Did some finagaling and got it to fit. LOL
First start just happened. Damn she sounds mean with no exhaust!!!
First start with the exhaust hooked up. Sounds MUCH deeper than it used to. Also, factory exhaust bolted right up.

SWEET! Need pics of rear tires being roasted.
In and running. Got a bit of a miss though...
Remember, the 5.4 suffers the same spark plug blowout crap the 4.6 does. I'd pull them all out, check the threads, and replace carefully per factory specs. Check the coils while you're there (though honestly I've never seen one go bad, they just usually get dirt and grime down in the holes that needs to be cleaned).
I drove her home last night. The throttle hangs WOT on the hood, just clearanced that. The steering shaft bolt grabs the driver exhaust manifold. You have to man handle it back to where you want it. LOL Looking for Button Head torx screws or we're just going to grind the head down on that bolt.
MUCH more torque down low. Completely runs out of steam about 1,000 RPMs before it shifts though. Needs a tune and some exhaust fo shizo. The car sounds COMPLETELY different, in a good way. Sounds like there's really an engine in there now. LOL
Question...
Does the 5.4 have larger injectors than the 4.6? Do I need to swap those over?
Need moar burnout videos!
Wow, this one fell out. Just thought I'd update it and then let the thread die.
Finally got a tune. www.50resto.com has a deal out right now for a tuner and custom tune for $379 shipped. Since I used to work with those guys A LOT when I worked for Motion Dynamics, they hooked me up. It runs great!! They fixed all the problems. What a difference that made. Completely different car now. I need to get a good burnout video, I know ya'll are itching for that. LOL
Bumped so it can go into the build thread category. May be useful to anyone doing the 5.4 swap.
