Hello All. Really digging your site here. Per the request of a fellow member, after posting in the tow rig & trailer section, I am showing you all my 98% finished project. Its a 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup. I drag race it and street drive it. I recently finished a drag and drive event called sick summer. 4 different tracks in 5 days with about 700 miles of driving. I like all form of motorsports, which is what led me here.

But heres the start to now pics of my v-hickle.

I hope to never stumble on one of these at a tempting price.

Forward-steer is a fun thing that I might not want to imagine at speed.

What do they say at tech?   I picture some head-scratching while looking over the cage (because it isn't a standard shape...)

They usually say either "nice truck", or " why would you build something like this". lol....

I pestered the regional IHRA tech guy for an answer on the highlighted bar below, as there was no real way to run it per the rulebook (due to sitting on top of front wheels). He finally said- "I really don't know".

I do not believe it will ever be an issue as I will never bring the vehicle to the level of needing  a certified cage. I really built it for my own saftey. At this point its not even fast enough to require full cage.

As a former Corvair van driver, I approve of this thread. Welcome aboard! Tell us more about the drivetrain etc.

Entry and exit looks a little challenging but I really like it.

In reply to John Welsh :

door bars are removed to street driving (there on pip pins). but you are 100% correct. it sucks getting in at the track. I definetly didn' t think that thru enough. Should have / need to change it to a curved door bar. a removable steering wheel would really help as well.
