I'm assuming it's sarcasm but realistically i will probably pull all of the vacuum nipples off, throw some hard epoxy in and then sand and paint the manifold to clean it up at some point lol. There was what felt like about a million vacuum lines in there and I simply did not want to deal with all of the old tech.

The power steering, high idle switch (for power steering as well), cruise control (I never use the stuff), and a few other things. But the main important ones I left were for brake, booster, fuel regulator, pcv and iac. The rest I basically just disabled. Zero check engines lights, runs like champ.

I have a 91 Toyota Pickup with a 22RE I rebuilt for it in 2018. Brings back memories
It burnt a valve in 2021 and last year I went and fixed the head, and deleted the air injection and EGR while it was off. I can't say that it runs any noticeably different but the clean up of all the tubes and making it easier to work on was a nice improvement.
I still have the Medusa's head of vacuum lines running across the valve cover, but with 5.29 gears, 37's, and armor, highway trips are slow, and A/C is nice. That and with the 37's the increase in RPM when I start to steer at idle is needed.

That truck is badass! Love the clearance on it, and looks like the guard is well setup too. I'd love to get mine there at some point.
I can't wait to do some upgrades and start enjoying my adventures. Yeah exactly, I'm not expecting power gains from the air injection clearout, I'm really just after cleanup and reliability and making it easier to work on. I am astonished how easy it is now to get to things like the intake manifold, thermostat, etc. All of that stuff was a bear to get to with all those in there. So cleanup it is. The other issue is because of the routing and all of that injection setup, the whole intake manifold and throttle body were just caked in gunk. I've cleaned it out pretty well, but ultimately to really clean it out will be bringing it down to a machine shop. For now, the throttle body is cleaned up, so I'll run it for now and in the spring, take it down to a machine shop and go "here clean this up."
My new marlin bushings for the shifter are supposed to arrive today, there was an absolute ton of slop.
I do believe this was a coastal car, as there are spots that have some real bad body rust. Frame looks great. However, will probably find a shop at some point to blast and seal it just so I can preserve it for even longer.
Never had a 22RE, but years ago I had both a 20R and a 22R, and both responded very well to a header - got mine from Downey. I wouldn't say it unleashed a bunch more power, but it was much happier in the upper half of the rev range, making the trucks much easier to drive in the mountains. I have a 2001 Tacoma 3.4 V6 now (262,000 miles), so it doesn't need any more power, it just runs smooth as silk.
Shifter bushings finally arrived. So the shifter bushing wasn't just bad it was uh... well it was gone. No wonder it was so sloppy. New delrin bushings from marlin's crawlers and both the transfer case and the shifter are very happy. I could not find the bushing for the transfer case so i made my own. God i've never had gasket maker that smelled like actual barf before, but it does.
Shifter slop? Well let's just check the bushings to see what condition they're.... oh...
