The car shown is my latest scratch built car. I used Mazda RX 8 subframes then built my own chassis and almost everything else. The engine mounted midship is from a 2010 Subaru Legacy GT Turbo and sends power through a Subaru STI 6 speed transmission. The car weighs 1838 lbs and is tuned for stock 265 hp.

It runs and handles very well. I have been running it in SCCA Solo events. It is my first time of doing solo. At 76 I thought I better do it now. Lol

This car is titled as a 2022 Assembled Vehicle in Indiana and is completely street legal. I have 1200 miles on it as of August '22.

Do you have more pictures of the front subframe pickups?  Did you depower the electric rack?

We talked a bit at the Walesboro autoX school, back in spring. I was there with my daughter in the Silver FoST

Nice to see your car here too

I will post some more photos.

I did take out the magnets and have no power to the rack. It works fine this way.

Sorry about the duplication photos. Old guys are not too good at tech.

Heck, I still have a flip phone.

Since that is a nice project, it let us appreciate it a little more!.

So, you used completely stock rx8 subframea and suspension/brakes? With custom half shafts?

Do you know how much they weight? I want to build a locost or midlana type car like yours..

In reply to physician :

brakes, steering and suspension A arms were all used from the RX8 subframes. Unless you get some really good technical assistance, you may not want to build your own geometric suspension. Ever heard of "bump steer" ?

In reply to Stampie :

I simply mocked up where the coil overs would run through the upper A arms and fabricated them from plate steel.

In reply to physician :

yes, custom half shafts. A company that specializes in racing axels built them, but I had lots of problems getting them correct to fit a Subaru trans on one end and an RX8 hub on the other.
