Need to order a tailgate. Online seems $275-$313 for one
I'd trade a decent 65 impala for that f100... But I also love that body style f100. Also ever looked for a panel van from those years that's some big $$$$$

I hate flareside trucks
I bought a $45,000 loaded tacoma last month . But I love the design and flow of this f100 . My taco will sit for a while , while I enjoy this
after I fix it I possibly will keep it at least a year. It really speaks to me even though these fords aren't that "desired"

Pretty sure that it's an automatic that happens to have a long shifter handle.
Uncle David (Forum Supporter) said:The picture of the engine also shows an independent front suspension, which is not how Ford delivered those trucks. That means the front of the frame, or the whole frame, has been swapped. It's probably a GM front end since the engine is a Chevy and 2nd Gen F-body front subframe swaps are popular. S10 frame swaps usually work on these trucks as well (they're not very big), and the 2nd gen F-body and S-10 front ends share a lot of parts. The GM rally-style wheels are another clue that the truck has GM running gear.
Check the entire brake system carefully. Many people screw up decent brakes with mismatched hardware (front vs back, and master cylinders)
Confirmed as you said
definitely a front GM suspension swap
once I get back from muffler shop tomorrow
will post more pics

Gas tank in bed
a friend said lots of people moved and relocate the tank ?
my main concern is once I order the rear beautiful bed means I will have to cut that for the filler neck
JeremyJ said:I actually really like the patina on the hood with the bright chrome trim. It's a cool look.
I do too!
wish whole thing was patina so I wouldn't have to paint it
debating seat belt yes or no ?
Thanks angrycorvair
paint quote $4300
Debating doing black satin with white /red hand pin striping ... i know played out....but figuring out what sells.
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
Yeah. I've been there with my uncle. Not too far from his place. Forgot about them when we chatted.
I kinda think that satin black cars from that era is a little played out. I still think red with a walnut bed.
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
Please please please don't do black. It's so played out and just bleh looking. Satin pale yellow, teal, or lavender with pinstripes and fill chrome reverses or Cragars with the thin whitewalls. White vinyl pleated interior to all of the above.

Won't do black. Hate black. Was just thinkign out loud for a minute.
Pale Yellow/Teal , period correct is what I will go with. Hope to make color pick on Monday and send it to body shop

Good idea. Let me check to see if we can figure out
Not sure if the VIN plate would even indicate the original color on a truck that old, but...
https://auto.howstuffworks.com/1948-1952-ford-fseries-trucks3.htm
The 1948-1949 Ford F-Series trucks came in eight standard paint colors: Barcelona Blue, Medium Luster Black, Feather Gray, Glade Green, Monsoon Maroon, Rotunda Gray, Vermilion, and Tucson Tan. Wheels were painted black, as were the bumpers and running boards
