at least with the Yen to dollar being quite good right now... I'm getting a bargain... and a complete undamaged set of ignition wires.

Wow...score!!!
I also read about the exchange rate recently...perhaps I should head to Yahoo Japan Auctions to glance at Cappuccino parts!
I just realized how big a score this actually was/is... As you can see... plenty of broken ignition bits in the circled section.....

Valve spring specs are finally in....
In our case we do need to keep an inner valve spring as that spring holds the valve seal in place.
More to come......
A bit of an update on the valve springs.... There are a few choices from SBI for a replacement outer springs - keeping the existing inner springs.... And I'm calling Pac Spring tomorrow and see what they might have.....
Update spring page

looks like I may have found my spring......... I sent an email to Pac Spring, and their response.....
That would make it 100 pounds on the seat, and 225# on the nose......
..... and now for the but... it is a proprietary spring, it is the inner spring to dual kit from AFR, the AFR-8019 valve spring. Matt has a phone call into AFR to see if they would be willing to sell me 16 inners. I could buy the set, but at $315.00, and all I need are the inners - Matt thinks its worth the effort to see if AFR would be willing to sell me just inners....
more to come.......

I saw that - well, a few moments of it, anyway. It only took a few moments to realize the presenter is not only a lazy hack with a very punchable face, but also a jackass who doesn't know his back end from a pork sandwich.
It's rather unfortunate that we can't just pop somebody on the nose right through the screen. You can, however, report the content-thieving turd for copyright issues. Click the three dots directly under the video:

They're here......... testing later today.......

50#s on the seat... 85# @ .440 lift, coil bind @ .585" lift... just took 6 weeks.....

Copyright exists from the moment you create your work (images). Maybe you're thinking of Trademark, which has loads of hoops. Anyway, those are your images and he's using them without permission. Ask him to credit your images or take them down. If he doesn't, report it.
Hemis are everywhere....The Twin Cam in my Europa is a hemi,....the factory Ford manual for my '91 Festiva says it's a hemi....and now I know Toyota made one

Toyota made many..... all the "T" series engines (DOHC, and pushrod), all the "R" series, and all the 2 valve "M" series used hemi type chambers.

Collaborate with him to make a video with good information-crediting you.....and linking your build thread so people can see the awesome work you do.
Just acquired... Yahoo Japan... $45. Shipping likely to cost more. Plan is to check if it works... if it does , if it doesn't - get it rebuilt.
I believe it goes on upper right (looking at engine).....
at least that is where it looks to be on other 5V's
It arrived... shipping was over $100 (unit weights a hefty 19 lbs.)
Now tested , puts out 85 amps - the local alternator/starter guy also had a pigtail.
As far as the engine itself... there was a bit of confusion with spring heights/clearances, which caused another delay... hopefully we are back on track.

So... after measuring... a 1.200" spacer is being made to properly position/fit the slave. .
Another piece to the puzzle.....
So... an actual engine update....
As 5V-EV isn't something with available parts like Fords, Chevys, Mopars, and ever other domestic manufacturer. It has been tough on the shop - do to delays. Long story short, they seemed to have lost one of the new valve springs. They spent hours* cleaning, and reorganizing in an attempt in finding it - no such luck.
"spent hours" - typically a rebuild takes less then 2 days (with all the parts) and so measurements and specifications don't get mishandled(lost). Having this engine takes this long has caused my shop added grief (not just me) . The one of the current stop/go issue was they were using incorrect cam specs (they used stock cam, and thought rocker ratio was 1.75) I showed them the original notes of the regrind, and the original notes of the rocker ratio. Another near snafu - for some reason they, upon rechecking thought the outer spring was now binding with the corrected valve lift - whereas my photo of their notes showed them that there was indeed enough room to retain the current outer spring. - albeit the outer spring now has about .065" before coil bind.
So... back to the inner spring, the guys @ PAC Racing are shipping me a new one - WHOOO HOOOOOO.
Warrenwelder - any chance I could purchase your intake manifold???

When I added my mfd. picture to your page i said the only good part is it allowed a carb to be used. The design is all wrong. My plan is to ut it apart and remakr using long runners and a dualplane plenum. Longer runners are much better. Not as long as the Ausie with 2ft tubes. I have no clearance problems but you will need hood clearance. I cut mine off with a skillsaw and put the remains on the mill and cut the flange area flat and built up from there with al weld ells. I made a mfd like this for a 928 porche that had a failed jetronics system. It ran and drove well but I never drove a stock one before for comparison. I would be glad to make one to your specs from your mfd or trade you mine for yours so I can build mine to new specs. Mine is set up for edelbrock but is easly changed to holley. Mine has modified water passages and egr. Eliminated. If you look at the pictures and compare to yours you can see the changes. Email me and i will give you a call on the phone to discuss it. I am atlantic standard time. USVI

So far.....(fingers crossed) I don't need any original spare engine parts... and the Century has either sold... or the seller pulled it......

Warrenwelder - rx4ord (Tassie Dave) passed away a year or so ago, i bought his incomplete project 31 Ford with the "2ft tubes" off his son, I need to build a new intake because it is near on impossible to find LPG/propane at gas/service stations anymore. I was planning on something like yours,
Have you calculated runner length and plenum size?
Have you got any more pics?
Do the standard water passages pass from left to right only or do they also pass from front to back?
sometimes I feel if it wasn't for bad luck... I'd have no luck at all.......
the engine is partially assembled... and it has been decided we are going back to adjustable length pushrods. There has been too much machining (and wear) - rocker arm rebuild, cam grind, and used lifters - that we are planning on setting pushrod length based on lifter pre-load.
Sooooooo..... this happened.... gasket section between oil drain and coolant (pressure) came free of the gasket. A replacement gasket was ordered.... it arrived... and we are still waiting on the pushrods.........
You may have seen this already but a girl in AZ is putting a Tundra 2UZ into an old Celica:
In reply to preach (dudeist priest) :
not an uncommon swap. A local friend has a 76 Celica liftback that he is installing a 1UZ and a W58
So one more piece (or I should say 20 pieces) of the puzzle arrived..... 10 of each. The long ones are for the exhaust, the short ones, the intake.
