I took the 357 out to the FIRM for a track day last weekend with my buddy, Chris, who just finished building his hooters cup car from a shell. The BMW ran great all day (other than some power steering fluid pushing out of the reservoir). Chris struggled with his car a bit and likely needs some tuning.
And the big news is I ordered a couple of lifts for the garage!! A 2-post and a 4-post. I bought through a local guy who has been doing installs for 30 years. I'm sure its something I COULD have done myself, but I'd rather pay a little to know it was done by someone who knows his E36 M3.
I wish I had a lift, or even a garage, or just something covered tbh.
I'm sitting around daydreaming about having a single lift and here you are ordering two at once! That sounds like it'll be a great addition to the new garage, enjoy!

haha! My intent was just a 2-post for most of this garage dream/build. But I got to thinking about future storage and other scenarios that would benefit from a 4-post. My local lift guy offered me a bit of savings to do both at once. Its not really in my budget at the moment to do both, but I really want this garage build to be "done" soon and go back to having time for exercising and relaxing on occasion, so I'm pulling the trigger. I've been spending almost every free hour wiring this damn building for the last 3 or 4 weeks. But I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Power is switching on to the building Friday and lifts are installing on Tuesday!

Welcome! I drove by there again just a few days ago and it was still there...along with a couple cool new toys.
The garage finally has juice!
Mission accomplished!! 11 months start to finish
Dang, as I look at my uninsulated, barely-two-car garage in freezing weather, I'm having some serious envy! Congrats on this awesome garage build!
I took it to a couple local autocrosses and was knocking on the door of FTD. It was frustrating. Time to shed some more weight. Maybe I can sell off enough E36 M3 for some cheap boost?
i still see doors, so you still have weight to lose.

They're coming off too! This is just what I could get done in the hour I had after dinner.

Just noticed your O2 sensor right by the end of the exhaust. Might be ok, but I've also heard that that can get false readings because it close to fresh air or something. Might be easy enough to look at the readings on an OBD2 reader to make sure its reading properly when moving. Of course, if that's a secondary O2 sensor it might not matter. Not familiar with MR2s...
In reply to AWSX1686 :
I've had a few people mention that. But it is the secondary sensor and everything seems to be working fine. No CEL and no loss of power. Maybe I'll change it up down the road.
even with the speakers, windows, and motors out of the doors already, they were still very heavy. I'd estimate 60-ish pounds each.
the "extra parts" pile is growing.
on some of the "kart" builds I see, people go way overboard with the cage and extra added bars, basically adding back most of the weight they've removed. I'm just going to weld in some simple door bars for rigidity and containment. This car won't ever see the track - I don't care to do the work I feel is necessary to prepare a car for safe track use. It's strictly for autocross and $2k challenge.
Does it need a windshield or will that change your autocross class?
In reply to adam525i :
The car is already going to be in the top modified class in the club I usually run with. There's a miata kart that runs with no windshield. But I think I'm going to leave it for now.

Secondary sensor, yeah I'd guess you're fine. Glad you're already aware.
