PO said only "the cat has been removed" but it's got about $800 worth of Top Speed Performance headers and exhaust. Certainly not high end stuff but fairly cool. It sounds great. I've pretty much determined PO was not the guy who put some love into this car, but someone before him did. (Probably a factor in why he let it go so cheap). No issues spotted from under the car. I'm also not going to pull off all these skid plates and go digging too deep. 😂
I took a deposit on the Spyder. A guy from Texas is going to come pick it up next week.

I'm not a huge convertible fan and a Cayman is what I really wanted, so I'm about 80% set on pulling out the soft top guts and putting on a hardtop. There's an ocean blue one in Orlando and a black one in Panama City. Not sure which color I'd prefer.
I know I can leave the soft top in place but that's just not what I want to do. I'd rather reduce the weight and sell it for a few bucks.
the wife says "they both look like you couldn't find the right color. Like a truck bed topper that doesn't match the truck." 😂. And that's kind of what I like about it. Anti-purist.

Would that be Billy? I'm leaning toward the blue one both for the color and the 8 hours less driving to get it. I'm planning to check it out tomorrow. I'll let ya know if I don't take it home. And if I do take it home :)

Yeah. We are about to get some color matched spray paint just so his car looks less dumb.
A little paint or vinyl on the A-pillar can help tie it together.

Snagged the blue top and I think I freakin love it! Pulled the soft top out and will sell. PO had a speaker box up on the rear shelf. Damn thing weighs at least 60 lbs. feels like it's 2" thick fiberglass.
That looks great! OEM plus in my eyes.. Dark side markers kinda look out of place to me though?

Ya. I don't like the side markers either. I'll scope out some orange or clear ones.
I fixed the passenger window regulator this morning and then ripped it up and down the highway for an hour. This thing is rock solid and really feels well built on the interior. I was expecting cheap and rattly before I bought one. I should've picked one up long ago rather than waiting for a unicorn reasonably priced 987.2 cayman. I love it!

Well I decided to go a different route on the intake manifold gasket (I think the one I had contributed to one of my coolant leaks) and the eBay seller has screwed me and not shipped it for a week now. But this has given me a chance to run a significant number of wires up to the front, that would've been a lot harder to do with the engine in the bay. So that's good I guess.

What intake gasket did you try? Avoid the plastic ones, OEM or similar style is king for intake.
Well E36 M3. A plastic one is what I have on order. Originally I had a metal one this shape:
but it was not sealing well behind my aftermarket "coolant adapter":
so I wanted to try a different shaped gasket and just use Honda bond behind the coolant adapter.
Any tips on what gasket to use that has the slimmer shape?

Can you cut the metal one where your adapter bolts up? Maybe the plastic one will work for center feed fine but I know the RWD ones had issues.

I did consider cutting and will look closer at that option when I pull the manifold off. 👍

it ain't pretty, but we're no longer relying on thread tape or questionable o-rings at all 7 of these fittings/plugs.
